The sun might be in the Tottenham keeper's eyes, but he didn't seem to struggle in the warm-up...

Lens has a go at goal - that's Sunderland's first of the game. His dipping drive is designed to catch Lloris out as the sun is in the keeper's eyes, but the shot rises over the bar.

Rose shoots from range, but it's optimistic at best and his effort slides high and wide.

The home crowd are getting restless. They've seen this sort of game countless times over the last few years.

Alderweireld hooks a cross in which Kane does well to reach, but Pickford leaps to grab the second ball and deny the England striker.

A deflection almost gifts Defoe a sight of goal, but Lloris is sharp off his line and beats the striker to the loose ball.

It's all very congested in midfield, with the visitors dropping Graham back in to add an extra body.

Allardyce will be reasonably happy with how the game has gone so far. His team have yet to create a chance and have seen very little of the ball, but they've stifled Tottenham's attack well.

Dembele and Eriksen link up to feed Kane in the box, but the striker is under pressure and can't quite wrap his foot around the ball to turn his shot on target.

Tottenham break, but Sunderland's midfielders swarm all over Alli as he looks to bring the ball down and the youngster loses possession.

Spurs' biggest difficulty this season has been putting games to bed. They've drawn nine games already and have dominated many of those, so today is an opportunity for them to show that they've got the killer instinct necessary to be considered as title challengers (it still feels odd using 'title challengers' and Spurs in the same sentence).

Pickford has had a confident start and even heads out of his box to clear with his feet as Spurs look to isolate the keeper with a ball over the top.

The Sunderland away kit isn't the best, to be fair. Here's Adam Johnson modelling the lime green disaster.

A loose ball breaks to Alli inside the box, but he doesn't have much time to react and fails to keep his effort down.

Spurs are completely dominating this game, forcing Sunderland deep and pushing the full-backs high to allow Eriksen and Lamela the freedom to drift into central areas.

Sunderland have their first meaningful spell of possession in the game and earn themselves a corner, but it is well dealt with by the Tottenham defence.
