And that is that. The visitors fought gallantly at times but were always going to struggle playing the lion’s share of the game with ten men. They are rock bottom on 13 points and are eight shy of safety. West Ham on the other hand are on the up. The sit sixth and can push on from here after another highly impressive performance.

This game was over as a contest as soon as Ayew saw red and the home side are playing keep ball as the clock ticks down.

It has been a pretty dour evening of football for the travelling Villa fans who have seen their 10 men comfortably beaten but the majority are staying to the end. Credit to them.

Valencia goes down in the box and Noble tries to finish off the job as the ref lets play commence, but there's nothing there.

Cresswell makes a right-footed cross from the edge of the box, but Bunn gets his left hand to it.

Gueye to Bacuna who promptly gives the ball away.

Noble is booked for a tackle on Okore. You might argue he's lucky to have come this far without one.

Collins is booked for an over-zealous tackle on Micah Richards on the wing - just as he is making a break for it. Villa aren't able to capitalise on the free kick they're awarded.

Villa intercept the ball on the wing and make a rare run towards the West Ham box, but it's promptly taken care of by the Hammers.
