A number of the Gunners' recent home matches have seen vast areas of empty seating at the Emirates Stadium due to yet another inconsistent season.
Arsene Wenger's side find themselves down in sixth place in the Premier League table and fans have been very underwhelmed by their performances.
With north London rivals Tottenham in fourth place and enjoying a fine run of form the pressure has only intensified on Wenger, and Wright is happy that the fans are at least attempting to force change by staying away from games.
"You hope that they will see that the fans have had enough,” he told ‘The Debate’ on Sky Sports.
Arsenal fans get a lot of stick on social media and people laugh at them. They threaten to do stuff and it doesn't quite happen but this is the first time I've seen a positive step from the fans.
"I was there the other day and it's not good to see but with the prices that they pay, they've had to listen to excuses, they've watched players leave, they've watched really incompetent performances and they've still gone in their droves.
"They should show that they are not happy. I'm pleased that they've done it and hopefully the board will be looking. They are looking at the club falling away and nothing being done."

Our view

With Arsenal a staggering 13 points adrift of rivals Spurs in fourth place, it is very understandable for fans to feel disillusioned. Add to that the exorbitant ticket prices that they are being asked to pay and it should come as no surprise that they are happy to stay away.
Frankly, the only surprising thing is that it has taken this long for Arsenal fans to make a point to the club's board in the strongest way they can - by staying away and withholding their money.
The Premier League home games against Manchester City and Stoke saw particularly embarrassing swathes of empty seats and, as the club's former record goalscorer, it is understandable for Wright to be totally in support of the fans' stance.
