A Man United fan, an Arsenal fan and a Spurs fan walked into a synagogue... ...as the famous joke always starts. It was roundabout this time last year, and the Spurs fan was picking out the various games in which Leicester were going to drop points, the assumption being that Spurs would collect all those available to them. Somewhere in the smoke rings of their minds, the United and Arsenal fans recalled the days when their teams contested titles, reminded the Spurs fan that he knew no such thing, and recollected how leagues are rarely won with long runs of victories. Shortly afterwards, Leicester were champions. Which is to say that tonight's game is no gimme. United and Arsenal are the best teams Spurs have still to play, but to assume that Palace will simply be despatched is nonsense. This should be very interesting.

So, Chelsea's lead at the top is back down to four points thanks to a lovely goal from Christian Eriksen. They didn't play at all well, but once Sakho went off, always looked likely to score.
Thanks for your company, and enjoy the rest of your night.

Sissoko barges through Zaha, who gets no free-kick, so charges after him, fouls him, and boots the ball away. Booking.

Trippiyay, who has nice eyes, replaces Alli.

And another corner, which this time leads to a goalkick.

Spurs win a corner and Eriksen takes it short to Sissoko - ah, that's why he's on the pitch! The Fellaini role! He forces another, using up another 25 seconds in the process.

Alan smith gives Eriksen man of the match, which is fair enough. Had he not scored, I'd have gone Kelly, but the winner, and a goal of that quality far outweighs the other 90 minutes 58 seconds of this game.

There'll be bare stoppage time after his injury - seven minutes of the stuff, it turns out.

Spurs were better after the break, but this game really changed when Sakho went off.

But now a corner for Palace down the right - and that's superb defending from Dier, making it his to thunk a header clear.

Spurs win another corner and it goes to the edge of the box, where Dier nods it in; Alderweireld swivels well, shooting just wide.

That last one made me laugh.

Wayne Hennessey is fantastically tall.

Just after the goal, Kane was booked for something or other; Campbell has replaced Benteke.

Palace have barely been down the Spurs end this half - I'd be shocked if one goal wasn't enough and not at all shocked if Spurs nabbed another.

OH WHAT A GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur (Eriksen) Eriksen picks up possession from Kane, 30 yards out, saunters forward, and strokes a low, outswinging, dipping side-footer into the corner! How did he even think to try that? Hennessey saw it late, granted, but still, that is brilliant - he really is the man for clutch.

Spurs try to amp it up, Walker trying a cross then, when the ball ends up on the other flank, Davies does likewise and this time Kane is up. But so is Kelly, who does enough to put him off and Henessey saves.

What did Pochettino tell Sissoko when he sent him on? "Just get beaten every time someone runs at you, foul them clumsily, otherwise chill."
