Hello and welcome to live commentary of this afternoon’s match between Everton and Stoke. In the corresponding fixture last season Stoke won a thrilling match 4-3. Here’s hoping for a similar level of excitement.

FT: The whistle goes and Everton are 1-0 winners. They were in the ascendancy for most of the game, but got lucky with the penalty and were wasteful with a lot of chances. Stoke can feel aggrieved, but may well look back on Walters' miss the real reason they didn't get anything from this game.

Barkley, who's been very lively this afternoon, is substituted for Ramiro Funes Mori. Koeman trying to shut up shop, it would seem.

Bolasie teed up Barry on the edge of the box and he picks his spot, but sadly for the Toffees that spot was in the stands.

Double change for Stoke. Imbula and Diouf off, Bojan and Ramadan Sobhi on.

Arnautovic receives the ball in the box and squares to Walters, who looks to have a tap-in, but he can't react quick enough and the chance goes begging.

Barkley goes round Shawcross with an exquisite touch, only to shoot straight at Given.

Kone cuts in from the left and tries his luck from range, but Given is equal to his effort.

Unsurprisingly, Stoke fans not impressed with the refereeing.

Mirallas off for Everton, replaced by Arouna Kone who scored a brace in midweek.

Walters has an early touch but Williams is across quickly to tackle, and the ball even goes out for a goal kick have bounced back onto the Irishman's foot.

Stoke make the first change of the match, as a disgruntled Crouch is replaced by Jon Walters.

Given makes a good save from Barkley's shot from inside the D.
