A lovely through ball finds Firmino down the right channel and the Brazilian drills in a low cross but Palace can clear.

Clyne is released on the wing but his cross is blocked and Liverpool win their first corner of the game, which ultimately comes to nothing. A bright start from the hosts.

Liverpool work the ball wide for Milner who fizzes in a dangerous cross which Palace fail to clear, allowing Firmino to tee up Wijnaldum whose shot is blocked.

Interesting - but will former Red Christian Benteke help his Palace side to break that record?

The players are making their way out onto the pitch on a lovely day in Liverpool.

Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Burnley just now adds more pressure on Liverpool who remain above their great rivals in the race for the top four, but only by three points and Jose Mourinho's side have a game in hand. This is quickly becoming a vital game for Liverpool.

Speaking to the cameras before kick-off, Jurgen Klopp has been praising Crystal Palace and in particular Christian Benteke. He says his Liverpool side have to be patient this afternoon.

Given Sam Allardyce's remarkable managerial career, this is quite a surprising statistic but you shouldn't rule Crystal Palace out this afternoon as the Eagles have won on their last two journeys to Anfield. They're only four points above the drop zone, so they could do with a positive result.

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce: "We're in Champions League form for picking points up, which should give us a huge amount of confidence on Sunday.

"Hopefully we can be good enough, big enough and brave enough, and confident enough to try and repeat what we've done against Chelsea and Arsenal recently."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "If we let them cross 50 balls, it is pretty likely [Christian Benteke] will have a few dangerous headers but that is not his only strength.

"You have to avoid passes in this area but not only for him; if you only concentrate on Christian then [Wilfried] Zaha, [Andros] Townsend are around you.

"They have one of the best offensive lines in the Premier League and we respect this."

Mamadou Sakho is ineligible to play against his parent club and he is replaced in defence by James Tomkins, Crystal Palace's only change from the team that drew 2-2 with Leicester last week. Christian Benteke features against his former club.

Joel Matip and Lucas Leiva both start for Liverpool, despite suffering injuries in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp names an unchanged side from the team that beat West Brom last weekend. That means Philippe Coutinho and Firmino are both involved with Divock Origi leading the attack. 17-year-old Rhian Brewster is named among the subs.
