FT: Middlesbrough 1-0 Sunderland. Boro get their first win of 2017 and, in theory, give themselves a slight chance of staying up, but that was not a good game and both sides look doomed. Sunderland were dreadful and their supporters are letting David Moyes know what they think of him.

Fabio booked for a tackle on Defoe, perhaps harshly, but Sunderland are upset too as they wanted the referee to play advantage.

Manquillo brings down Negredo a few yards from the penalty box down the right, giving Middlesbrough a dangerous position from which to put in a cross, but Sunderland defend the free-kick well.

An attacking swap for Sunderland as Borini comes on for Gibson.

Ndong goes in for a slide tackle and, amusingly, accidently brings down referee Dean in the process.

Gibson makes progress down the field with a couple of one-twos but is tackled just as looks to pull the trigger 20 yards out. Sunderland are in the ascendancy now.
