David Moyes had this to say about Pickford: "The top clubs will be looking at Jordan and I’d expect them to be. I’ve said that on the journey of building football clubs, sometimes you have to sell players on. I don’t think we’d ever be in a hurry to sell Jordan. And if we do then we know we’ve got a big commodity with him being a young England goalkeeper.”

Mark Hughes complained about referees before the game: "Maybe our reputation goes before us. We've been here three years, and I think most people can see we've changed in our approach, and we have.
"Maybe referees feel they need to give Stoke players early yellow cards to calm the Stoke players down and make it easier for them to referee. You'd have to ask referees.
"Or maybe they just think they're blatant fouls that deserve yellow cards. I'd obviously disagree with that. We have experienced referees now, and sometimes that is a difficult feeling to have in the back of your mind."

Sunderland are also suffering in the league. Looking at the side, it's hard to see how they can improve from here. Jordan Pickford is their own great hope, but with the defence ahead of him as it is, there is only so much he can do.

Stoke City have Joe Allen back from international duty, and as well as being excellent for Stoke for many of his appearances, he also scored a brilliant goal for Wales while away. He is a rare bright spark in a poor season so far.
