Arsenal will be desperate for the whistle now as Southampton keep going to the bitter end.

RED CARD! What is going on?! This has descended into chaos as Elneny follows Stephens off the pitch after raising his hands to Cedric. Wilshere is also shown a yellow card for his part in the fractious ending.

RED CARD! Stephens is sent off for violent conduct after reacting to Jack WIlshere literally rips the shirt off his back.

We have four minutes of added time to be played - a nervous four minutes for Arsenal, one imagines.

Arsenal are packed in around the goal now as Southampton continue to press for an equaliser. It would be deserved, if they could rustle something up, now.

GOAL! There he is! Danny Welbeck redeems himself as he heads in Iwobi's cross from the right side of the box into the goal from three yards out. Arsenal are back in control of the game.

Josh Sims comes on for Shane Long for the last 10 minutes or so.

MISS! Danny Welbeck makes a play for a brace but to no avail. Wilshere chips the ball back at him but it misfires horribly on Welbeck's touch.

Southampton have improved vastly in the second half with a sustained period of pressure on the home team.

GOAL! A minute after he comes on, Charlie Austin scores to bring the score to 2-2.

And Yoshida has made way for Charlie Austin, with Mark Hughes having decided to pursue more of an attack in the closing 20 min. With Arsenal's defence as it is, peerhaps not a bad idea.

Lacazette will come on now for Arsenal to replace Aubameyang. I'm not sure I'd be making that switch just yet - Arsenal are not out of the woods yet.

Hoedt strikes from some way outside the box on the far corner - it's ambitious buy Cech is on his feet to make the save.

Reiss Nelson has had a reasonably good first Premier League start - he's been involved enough even if that's not really translated into a tangible difference, but he's off now - Jack WIlshere will take his place.

OFFSIDE! Shane Long could've scored his third Premier League goal of the season there with the ball played forward to him, waiting at the edge of the 18-yeard-box to deliver into the net. But the flag's up - the goal will not stand.

It's very scrappy when Southampton find the Arsenal box. Mustafi clearing the ball with almost no rhyme nor reason as to where it might end up, Arsenal taking too long to close things down. It's horrible defending and similarly horrible attacking by Southampton, to be honest.
