Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois is out with a back injury. Nobody knows anything with backs, but he might be a doubt for the FA Cup final in 11 days' time.

Huddersfield have two strikes to get the point they need - if they lose tonight, they have Arsenal at home on Sunday as a fallback.

Huddersfield have struggled in recent months, but they got an excellent point at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. And their excellent form in the first half of the season – they were 11th at Christmas – gave them a vital buffer. They need one more point for a monumental achievement.

Chelsea, ever contrary, have won their last four league games to jump back into contention for the Champions League. Before that run they had won only three out of 11 league games in 2018.

This is no end-of-season meander in west London. Both teams are in serious need of points, or in Huddersfield’s case a point. A draw tonight would ensure they avoid relegation and put Swansea down instead. Chelsea need a win to keep up the pressure on Liverpool and Spurs in the race to hear the Champions League theme music next season.

Both managers have made multiple changes despite good results at the weekend – six for Chelsea, three for Huddersfield.
