Klopp has won three of his four Premier League games against Man City, including a 4-1 triumph at the Etihad that featured this goal.

Under Klopp, Liverpool have lost just once in 22 Premier League games against a top seven side from the previous season, winning 12 of those games.

Pep Guardiola not giving much away in his pre-match TV interview. "Of course" he looks forward to games like this, he's playing two strikers "because we try to score goals" and he wouldn't confirm whether or not City will be playing a back three.

And that form hasn't gone unnoticed.

Sadio Mane has scored in each of his last four Premier League games.

And on player who isn't playing, of course, is Phillipe Coutinho, just as Klopp said he wouldn’t yesterday. And according to his boss the Brazilian agreed completely” with that decision. More from Klopp here.

Both teams enter this match unbeaten on seven points, so if there's a winner that team will go top, albeit only for a short while should Manchester United avoid defeat later. Another thing they have in common is that both aren't in Champions League action until Wednesday, so the managers have a bit more leeway in terms of playing players in both games.

With a record like that it's no surprise he's back in the line-up.

As for Liverpool, the biggest thing to note is that Ragnar Klaven starts, with Dejan Lovren having to make do with a place on the bench where he's joined by new boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Simon Mignolet is back in the team, as is Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the Reds making three changes too.

Three changes for Manchester City as Kyle Walker, John Stones and Sergio Aguero come into the side for the injured Vincent Kompany, suspended Raheem Sterling and benched Bernardo Silva.
