Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Manchester City's trip to Newcastle from St James' Park. Manchester United's slip up against Burnley means City can open up a colossal 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League table tonight with an 18th consecutive win. Newcastle, though, will want to build on the momentum from beating West Ham 3-2 on Saturday which put an end to their nine-match winless run. A shock victory for Rafa Benitez's side would lift them further away from the relegation zone. I'm Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!

All over at St James'. Very strange game. City were by no means at their best, and missed a host of chances to make the win comfortable, but Newcastle's lack of intensity for much of the match means the league leaders didn't really need to apply themselves to open up a 15 point lead at the top of the Premier League. 18 league wins in a row. That record grows. Newcastle stay 15th. Thanks for joining us. Report and reaction to follow. Goodnight.

Very ambitious from Shelvey, as he shoots from fully 30 yards, but that is always heading well wide.

CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCE! That was the moment for Newcastle. Atsu does really well to get the cross into the middle, Gayle is there, but he cannot find the target with his header.

Sloppy from Jesus, as he gets the timing of his run all wrong and is offside.

City content to keep possession at the moment. Newcastle are continuing to put pressure on though.

Better from Newcastle. City really on the back foot here. Atsu makes his way into the box, but Sterling is back there to cut the ball out.

DRAMA! Mistake from City, Gayle capitalises, nicks it past Danilo, goes tumbling to the ground, but instead of pointing to the spot, referee Andre Marriner cautions Gayle for simulation.

Newcastle enjoying some of the ball, but they can't do anything with it.

Lascelles is a lucky boy. He tries to cut out a cross, but diverts the ball towards his own goal, Elliot is stranded, but the ball drifts just wide.

Shelvey has the chance to curl a free-kick into the middle, but the delivery is woeful, as City clear.

NO GOAL! It opens up for De Bruyne, he arrows the ball towards the bottom corner, it comes out off the post, Aguero is on hand to tap home into the empty net, but he is offside.
