Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of Watford’s Premier League clash with Manchester United from Vicarage Road. On paper, the visitors are firm favourites, but this will be no easy game for Jose Mourinho’s men. Having dismantled Newcastle at the weekend, the Hornets will fancy their chances of putting an out-of-form United to the sword. I’m Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!

Watford are all over United here. Marcos Rojo does really well to make the block. Cross after cross coming into the United box.
8'
Victor Lindelof does really well to lean into Richarlison and put the Brazilian off in the box. Great defending from the Swede.
6'
Abdoulaye Doucoure does well to carry the ball clear, but is surrounded by red shirts and is dispossessed. He has been excellent of late.
4'
Break in play as Anthony Martial seems to have taken a knock. Good pace to the game.

Former Watford man Ashley Young makes his way down the left flank, tries to drag a cross into this middle, but it is cleared.

KICK OFF! Jon Moss is our man in the middle, and he gets us under way here at Vicarage Road. Can United get over recent woes in the capital on this bitterly cold night?

Kick off is almost upon us. United fans might not be completely happy with the style, but the substance is there, as United sit second, eight points behind leaders City. Mourinho will want the title, but second still represents progress, remember. Watford have been superb on the road, scoring over two goals per game, but haven't been quite as relentless on their own turf. On the back of such an impressive showing at the weekend, however, they will be pumped for this. Should make for a cracker!

Mourinho is fully aware that Watford represent tough opposition this evening. Marco Silva has assembled a talented bunch, with their free-flowing football taking Mourinho by surprise. "They have an unusual squad for a mid-table team," said Mourinho. "They have a squad full of very good players who are not normal to be in these mid-table teams. They have a good coach. They have improved a lot from last season too."

Looks like a change of system for United as Jose Mourinho makes two changes to the side who, somewhat fortuitously, beat Brighton at the weekend. Marcos Rojo comes in for his first league start of the season, with Jesse Lingard also starting. Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata drop to the bench. Just the one change for Watford as Sebastian Prodl replaces Miguel Britos in defence.
