Chelsea played well for 25 minutes, but it wasn't enough; City got themselves into the game and found just enough quality to get the job done. They move above Chelsea in the table and now lie nine points behind Liverpool, and one point behind Leicester.

NO GOAL! Sterling's breath was offside.

GOAL! Manchester City 3-1 Chelsea (Sterling) A long punt isn't cleared and when the ball bounces up, Mahrez beats Kovacic in the air, allowing Sterling to swivel into a scuff that bobbles past Kepa and into the far corner.

And this isn't a bad effort: he cuts across the ball, sending it wobbling towards the top corner - Ederson dives - but it goes wide.

Nice from Fernandinho, winning a high ball and starting an attack, but Chelsea come back and Gundogan trips Kante 35 yards out, dead centre. He's booked and Chelsea need to decide how to approach this; it's Rashford territory, but can Mount do what he did?

There'll be four added minutes.

De Bruyne picks the ball up in midfield and immediately looks for the killer pass, sticking Jesus in, but underhits the effort.
88'
Nice from Mahrez, darting a ball into space and in behind, for Foden, who drills a low cross without looking ... and there's no one in the middle to stick it in.
86'
And they win a corner which goes short, then Mahrez curls a cross directly into Kepa's hands.
86'
Which isn't to say they won't score again.

City enjoy a spot of possession deep inside the Chelsea half, down their left, then wind up rolling the ball all the way back. They've settled, basically.
85'
Gosh, Ederson hoofs a kick into Batshuayi, and the ball ricochets only just wide.

The first half of this was a lot better than the second.

And now Chelsea counter, Pulisic tearing down the left before squaring to Willian, whose first touch isn't great, but sits the ball up for him to crack a shot over the top. I actually think Ederson got fingertips to that, but the officials reckon not.
80'
De bruyne motors past two players before going down in a challenge with Tomori; no foul says the ref, to widespread consternation.

Foden is so natural; the ball comes across him when a corner isn't cleared properly, and with everyone expecting him to allow it onto his right, he opens his body to hit it early with his left, shaping a shot just wide of the near post.

Aguero has hurt himself, so he limps his way off as slowly as you like; eventually, Jesus replaces him.
