Good evening and welcome to our LIVE coverage of tonight's Premier League clash between Southampton and Bournemouth, or if you prefer, a South Coast derby. Is that a thing?

There's a lot of action around the centre of the pitch in this match, or inaction, rather. This is not a thrilling game of end-to-end football, in case that's what you were expecting.

Boufal makes a lovely interception there, stealing the ball from Stacey. He shoots. He doesn't score.

Watching the replay, that really was a lovely touch by Ake for the goal.

Southampton look dangerous now as a ball back to the Bournemouth defense looks horribly like it might go awry. A period of pressure on the visitors as they flood the box to clear the ball.

GOAL! A corner there from Stacey's ball, it's played into the box and Nathan Ake gets his head to it, to remind us how dangerous Bournemouth can be with a set piece. 1-0 to the visitors.

Boufal has a couple of crosses into the Bournemouth box. Doesn't quite connect with Ward-Prowse, still some signs of life here from the home side.

Southampton make a run down the right wing, but brought back under control by Nathan Ake. Not a huge amount to report just yet, but Southampton look just a little more threatening in these eraly stages.

Looking at previous matches, it doesn’t look great for Bournemouth who have never beat Southampton in any competition.

If the teams draw tonight, they zip up the table to third and fourth place. But if we have a lucky winner, well they’d still be third because of Manchester City’s goal difference of +10, but still. Then of course, there are a few other matches this weekend, so we probably wouldn’t expect it to be for long…

So what will tonight's game mean for both teams? Well, exactly the same. They are neck and neck in the league with the same number of points (seven) and the same goal difference (-1).

Two changes for home side Southampton, with Nathan Redmond returning from injury to take the place of Moussa Djenepo. Meanwhile Maya Yoshida drops back to the bench as Kevin Danso returns from a suspension.

One change for Bournemouth since their last league outing against Everton – which they won 3-1, by the way – and that is Jefferson Lerma who steps in for Lewis Cook, with the latter finding himself on the bench tonight.
