Tottenham have the historical edge between the two, with 56 wins to 36 and 21 draws in all competitions. One of the most significant fixtures between the two came 59 years ago, when Spurs beat Leicester in the FA Cup Final to seal the first Double of the 20th century.

Leicester City by contrast can get back into the Champions League for the first time since their inaugural effort in 2016-17. My oh my though, it’s tight; they currently occupy the fourth and final qualifying position, one point behind Chelsea in third and only ahead of Manchester United in fifth on goal difference. Leicester host United on the final day next Sunday, and Brendan Rodgers’ team need to position themselves as best as possible before that effective decider.

For a manager deemed by many to be using outdated methods, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has managed to put together an impressive run of recent form. Spurs have taken ten points from their last twelve, including a victory in the North London derby last Sunday and a midweek victory at Newcastle United. It’s too late for the Champions League places, but Spurs are in with a shout of qualifying for the Europa League next season if they can win here and at Crystal Palace next week.

There are no changes for either side today. Tottenham retain the same XI that beat Newcastle United on Wednesday, while Leicester stick with the same team that beat Sheffield United on Thursday.
