All the info you need as the Premier League fixtures for the 2020/21 season were released at 9am (BST) on Thursday morning.

Liverpool will begin defending their Premier League title on September 12 at Anfield, according to a fixture list for the new season, when they play newly promoted Leeds United, who return to England's top-flight for the first time in 16 years.

Manchester City and Manchester United will not participate on the opening weekend after they were guaranteed 30 days of rest following the end of their European seasons.

City were due to open their season against Aston Villa and United against Burnley but those games have been moved.

United will now kick off the season at home to Crystal Palace on September 19, according to the fixture list released by the league on Thursday, and City will travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers for their opener on the same day.

Mikel Arteta will begin his first full season in charge of Arsenal with a trip to newly promoted Fulham on September 12, while north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur host Everton.

Elsewhere on the opening weekend, Crystal Palace host Southampton, while West Ham United face Newcastle United at the London Stadium.

Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers' opening matches are both scheduled for September 14, with the Blues travelling to Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolves visiting Sheffield United.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool then travel to Chelsea for their second game of the season before hosting FA Cup champions Arsenal.

The first showdown between title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City will take place on November 7 at the Etihad Stadium with the other game scheduled for February 6.

The first major derby of the season is set for October 17 when Everton host Liverpool, while the two Manchester derbies are scheduled for the weekends of December 12 and March 6.

The season, which will not have a winter break, will conclude on May 23, less than three weeks before the start of the rescheduled European Championships.

11 - This will be the 11th time Spurs and Everton have met on MD1 of a top-flight season – three times more than any other fixture in top-flight history.
6 - Liverpool have won six of their last seven games on the Premier League's opening day (D1), scoring 15 goals in their four under Jurgen Klopp (W3 D1).
5 - Fulham have lost each of their last five Premier League matches against Arsenal, conceding nine goals in their two defeats against the Gunners the last time they were in the top-flight in 2018/19 (1-5 home, 1-4 away).
2 - Chelsea have lost two of their last three season openers in the Premier League (W1), this after going 18 consecutive campaigns without defeat on the opening matchday between 1999-00 and 2016-17.
11 - Newcastle United have lost 11 Premier League games on matchday one, only opponents West Ham United have lost more such matches in the competition’s history (13).

10:37 - Man City to miss opener

Manchester City will sit out the first Premier League weekend before travelling to Wolves on September 19.

Because of City's late Champions League finish where they were surprisingly knocked out by Lyon at the quarter-final stage, they will play just two Premier League games in September.

Interestingly Pep Guardiola's side face Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and Manchester United between Feb 6 and March 6.

10:12 - Leeds mark PL return at Liverpool

A tricky opening to Leeds' return to the Premier League after 16 years. They take on Liverpool on the opening day before their first home game against fellow newly-promoted club Fulham on September 19.

It will be Marcelo Bielsa vs Pep Guardiola when Leeds host Manchester City on October 3. Leeds play Manchester United at Old Trafford on December 19.

Manchester United will sit out the opening weekend of the new Premier League season. They kick off against Crystal Palace on September 19.

Because of their Champions League run, Manchester City's Premier League season will begin against Wolves also on September 19.

08:50 - Some changes to be aware of

Goodbye five subs! Premier League clubs voted at the start of August against allowing teams to make five substitutions per game in the 2020/21 season.

There will be no winter break this season and the FA Cup has also scrapped replays for the 2020/21 campaign to "ease pressure" on what is going to be a packed football calendar.

The pressure being lots and lots of Premier League football of course.

08:43 - Teams who could be exempt

Due to European football taking place after the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, it is unlikely the Premier League clubs who have been involved in European action will start their new campaigns on the September 12 weekend.

The Premier League said clubs playing in Europe would be given a minimum 30-day rest period. Wolves and Chelsea's last European involvement came before the 30-day period so they will likely be in action.

But Manchester City and Manchester United played on August 15th/16th respectively, meaning they could well start a bit later as they wait for 30 days to pass.

08:40 - Who are the new boys?

It's always a particularly exciting day for promoted clubs.

Leeds, West Brom and Fulham take the places of Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich in the 2020/21 season.

08:37 - The important dates

The Premier League season will start on the weekend of Saturday September 12. This means the new season will commence just six weeks after the 2019/20 campaign finished.

Provided there are no Covid-related interruptions,The season will finish on Sunday May 23, 2021 which is 19 days before the rescheduled Euro 2020 gets underway.
