VILLA CHANGE: Ramsey on for Trezeguet.
Trezeguet is down again. Looks like he will have come off. He's hobbling and looks pretty upset.
Play halted as Trezeguet receives treatment. It looks like a sore one after being caught chasing a ball to the corner, but he should be okay to continue.
Villa have reacted well since Liverpool's equaliser and have actually looked them ore likely to score.

- Yellow cardJames MilnerLiverpool
Trezeguet sees a lovely strike with the outside of his foot hit the far post and bounce kindly for the home side.
That was Salah's 19th PL goal of the season. He is one shy of recording 20 in the league for the third time in four seasons.
- GoalMohamed SalahLiverpool
GOAL! Liverpool are definitely level this time! Salah nods in the rebound after Martinez could only parry Robertson's rasping shot.
BLOCKED! Salah catches a header clear from a left-wing corner on the volley but sees his thumping effort well blocked.
DID YOU KNOW? Villa are the first team to score more than seven top-flight goals against the reigning champions in a season since Leeds managed eight across their two games against Derby in 1972-73.
Villa briefly threaten at the other end but Traore flashes a shot wide after taking it early from just inside the area.
Social is still buzzing over another close-call VAR decision.
Villa's defence creaks on the left side of the area. It's worked back to Salah but his low shot deflects just wide.
Liverpool are on the front foot. They've faced this scenario on countless occasions at Anfield in 2021. They need something different this afternoon and a faster tempo.
- Yellow cardDouglas LuizAston Villa
Douglas Luiz booked for stopping Liverpool taking a quick free kick.
VIDEO: Watkins gives Villa a first-half lead!
Can Liverpool keep their top four bid on track against a Villa defence that has kept eight clean sheets away from home in the Premier League this season? That's the most in the division and a joint club record.
- 2nd Half
KICK OFF! Liverpool get us back underway.
- End of 1st Half
HT: Liverpool 0-1 Aston Villa.
VAR continues to check.... And it's offside. Still 1-0 to Villa!
GOAL! Firmino gobbles up a loose ball from close range after Robertson's shot was deflected into his path. It all came after Jota had cut it back from the left following a raking pass from Trent AA. VAR is checking for offside....
Three minutes added.
Replays suggest Alisson should have done much better there.
- GoalOllie WatkinsAston Villa
GOAL! Villa nick the lead! Watkins takes McGinn's pass and somehow squeezes a low shot under Alisson.
Wijnaldum sees a low drive from the right side of the box blocked before his fizzing cross is well gathered by Martinez.
Traore loses the ball deep in his own half. Liverpool work it to the right for Trent AA but his low drive is well blocked.
STAT: Martinez is one clean sheet short of matching Villa's Premier League record for most shut outs by a goalkeeper in a season: 15 by Brad Friedel in 2009-10.
SAVE! Jota cuts in from the left and fires a shot straight at Martinez after a rapid Liverpool counter attack had started with some delightful control in the midfield from Firmino.
Salah collects Firmino's cut back from the left but curves his shot from just inside the area well wide.
Villa have barely posed a threat but have a couple of efforts in quick succession. Both Cash and Trezeguet let fly from the right but on both occasions the attempts are too close to Alisson.
STAT: Liverpool are currently 12 hours and 23 minutes without a league goal from open play at Anfield.
CLOSE! Jota meets the resulting left-wing corner but flicks his header over the bar.
Trent AA takes aim with a 25-yard free kick but sees it fly inches over the bar. The referee gives a corner as it may have brushed the fingertips of Martinez on the way over.
Play resumes with Liverpool on the attack.
Bizarre scenes as Luiz wins the argument. He is staying on the pitch.
Douglas Luiz looks all set come off but then argues a case to stay on at the touchline.
Douglas Luiz is down for Villa with a head injury. Jacob Ramsey is stripped and ready to replace him if required. Could this be a concussion substitution?
- Yellow cardEzri KonsaAston Villa
Konsa booked for hauling back Jota after lovely play down the left from the Reds forward.
Villa catch Liverpool cold with a deep free kick from the left wing, but Konsa can only plant his free header straight into the arms of Alisson.
VIDEO: Salah lets Mings off the hook.
ATTEMPTS: Liverpool 6-0 Villa. Just one on target so far.
Liverpool are well on top. Jota floats into space 25 yards out but lashes over the bar.
Liverpool work it well from left to right. Trent AA drills a low ball in towards Firmino, but Martinez is alert and bravely pushes it to safety. The flag was up for offside, so it wouldn't have counted, but a nice move from the hosts and fine goalkeeping too.
Liverpool come again but Firmino drags a 25-yard effort wide after collecting an incisive pass from Trent AA.
It should be 1-0. Mings fails to collect Jota's pass forward and allows Salah to spring free. He surges towards the keeper but stabs his shot wide of the far post.
Alisson does well to fly out of his area and mop up after Phillips had been beaten by a ball in-behind meant for Watkins. Liverpool's back line is susceptible to that type of long pass, as seen in Madrid in midweek.
Nakamba gets a timely toe in to deny Firmino after the Brazilian had twinkle-toed into a yard of space on the edge of the box and threatened to pull the trigger.
Jota charges in from the left flank but McGinn sticks with him and uses his body well to shrug off the Liverpool forward and win a free kick for his team.
SAVE! Martinez beats away Salah's drive from the left edge of the area after Villa had failed to deal with Liverpool's short corner on the right.
DID YOU KNOW? Only four teams have ever lost seven consecutive home games in a Premier League season - and all four went on to finish bottom of the league.
Villa have already hoisted several high balls to the right flank. Looks like part of their game-plan. Kabak gets caught out on that wing and beings down McGinn. Phillips powers the resulting free kick to safety though.
- 1st Half

Trent AA v Cash - right back head-to-head in stats.
As we continue to build up to today's encounter, why not catch up on some of the latest gossip? Liverpool were linked with an Ajax starlet in one of our recent Euro Papers videos while there are reports in the UK today that suggest Harry Kane could be keen on a Spurs exit...
Ozan Kabak: “We have eight games remaining in the Premier League and we just need to win every game. This huge club needs to be in the Champions League next year, (like) every year. The Real Madrid game is now in the past, we just focus on this game in the Premier League.”
Trezeguet: “We have nine matches left; it is very important to finish in the best way possible. Whatever you do in the start of the season, how you finish is most important thing of course. We will try to finish in a better position than we are now.”
Dean Smith on Ollie Watkins: “Ollie will get better and better. It took him until the third game to score and it ended up being a hat-trick against the champions (7-2 win v Liverpool). Everyone at the club loves what he is about, his character and his attitude and will to get better. I was so pleased for him going and getting his first international goal for England and he deserved his goal against Fulham last Sunday for his work-rate.”
Klopp on Liverpool’s home woes: “I don't think we are too much influenced by the last home games. They were all different and stuff like this. No, I don't think we will think about them, I will not think about it. It's just the next opportunity for us and it's a big one, it's a difficult one because the opponent is strong. So we have to be ready to play a good game."
Villa are still without their talisman, Jack Grealish but do make two changes to the team that beat Fulham last time out. Trezeguet and Marvellous Nakamba come in.
Liverpool make two changes to the side that lost to Real in midweek. James Milner comes in for Naby Keita while Roberto Firmino replaces Sadio Mane in attack. Curtis Jones is not involved due to a muscle issue.
