Wijnaldum drives out superbly on the break but again it slows down when they get to the final third and it is back with Liverpool's centre backs now. Their failure to commit on the counter-attack has been disappointed so far. Maybe it's confidence.
19'
Mahrez crosses into the box but cleared by Fabinho. Sterling then tries a low side foot across the box which is easily cleared. For such great attacking players their passes in the final third have been so unimaginative so far.
16'
Not much of a game so far. Some slick passing avoiding energetic pressing and good positioning but all happening in the middle third of the field.
14'
Robertson has time to put a cross in but no one was attacking the ball and Ederson is able to collect on the stretch six yards from his goal.
12'
City have tried a few diagonal cross-filed balls towards Sterling. Keeping Alexander-Arnold honest. He has looked on his game so far.
10'
Liverpool are pressing well and Stones looks a lot less assured than he has done this year in a couple of moments.
8'
Sterling lays the ball back to Zinchenko on the edge of the box who fires a low cross/shot in which Henderson clears.
5'
He seems to be up, about and looking fine Gundogan. Good news.

Thiago late on Gundogan who looks like he has turned his ankle. The former Barca and Bayern man gets a yellow card.

City get us underway...
16:27
We're almost ready to go now. Really looking forward to this one. Liverpool at over 2/1 doesn't look a bad bet when you look at their side.
16:20
Do wonder if Henderson and Fabinho will find it more difficult against a flexible forward line where they cannot easily gauge who they should be picking up. Although Guardiola has been playing a false nine on a few occasions recently I wonder if this played a role in him choosing to do so today.
16:11
Reasons for the Reds to be cheerful...
16:05
Jurgen Klopp has called for a mix of "proper defending and good attacking football" in his pre-match chat.
16:02
The teams are currently split by seven points, with City having a game in hand. Even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans cannot think they will retain their title if this lead is to extend to double figures. Even a five-point lead over United with a game in hand would seem near insurmountable.
15:54
Interesting top-rated side of the two so far this season. No De Bruyne seems a big surprise. Thiago in will raise a lot of eyebrows but don't mind his selection - so long as not in place of the Belgian.
15:47
What a stat this is from the UK's number one statman...
15:42
As for Liverpool, the big three in attack are back and their mix in midfield looks perfect. Not playing Curtis Jones against Brighton seemed strange after he turned the previous match coming on against West Ham. He will provide impetus so the ball-play of Thiago and Wijnaldum has more of an end product.
15:38
The obvious eye-catcher is the no centre forward policy from Guardiola. In front of Rodri they have five exceptional attacking players but no Gabriel Jesus or even Ferran Torres as an attacking spearhead. I'd expect a flexible front three of Sterling, Foden and Mahrez.
15:34
And this is the City side looking to increase their lead at the top of the table.
15:32
This is how the Reds are lining up in a match they surely have to win if they are to retain their title this year.
