Pieters is finally forced off through injury and Taylor comes on in his place for Burnley.

Decent first half at the St Mary's Stadium, you could say. Southampton have given themselves a lifeline just as it looked like this match might be getting away from them.

The flick from Ings was fantastic, that created the space for Armstrong and the Scottish midfielder found the back of the Burnley net with a low strike!

That was archetypal route one football from Burnley, and that's not meant as an insult. When it works as effectively like that, it's wonderful. The Clarets are well on top in this one.

Well, this first half has got away from Southampton. Hasenhuttl looks furious on the touchline. It's still entirely possible that the Saints could get sucked into a relegation scrap!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Southampton 0 Burnley 2 (28 mins - Matej Vydra). It's a second Burnley goal! Wood wins a flick on from a long ball forward, it falls perfectly for Vydra and he fires home a strike from just inside the box! What a finish that was and the visitors have a strangehold on this match now!

Pieters is up on his feet on the touchline and is attempting to run it off. He will be fine to continue, which will be a relief to Dyche. Burnley needed the breather as Southampton cranked things up.

Pieters is down again! He took a sore one in the foul that led to the penalty and now Pieters is down again after ending up on the wrong end of a slide block from Tarkowski!

This is better from Southampton. For the first time in the match, the home side are applying some pressure as Burnley scramble clear a corner kick that caused some issues.

Pope makes the save! Redmond takes aim from just inside the box on the left side, but the Burnley goalkeeper had a clear sight of it all the way and makes the low, diving save.

Ward-Prowse has been in exceptional form this season, even forcing his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of this summer’s Euros. He’s so dangerous from set pieces.

Soft on Forster! Southampton got away with one there. Wood challenged Forster for a high ball, but the whistle goes for a foul on the former England international. That was soft.

Brownhill has been excellent for Burnley in the centre of the pitch in these opening 20 minutes. He is breaking up play and proving a difficult player to get past for the home side.

Indeed, Burnley have lost just one of their last eight fixtures in the Premier League, although the Turf Moor outfit have drawn five of those matches. Hard to beat.

As referenced in the build up, Burnley claimed an away win over Everton before the international break. This was after draws against Leicester City and Arsenal. In good form.

Burnley have just about been the better team in the opening 15 minutes of this match and so it could be argued that they deserve to be ahead. Southampton have to respond.
