Good evening. There’s still time for one more Premier League game today and it’s a London derby. I’ll bring you team news, some build-up and then full coverage of the game as Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace travel north of the river to face Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur. It should be a good one (well, it might be a good one… fingers crossed).

Gareth Bale drifts forward over halfway and is hauled down by Ayew as Palace again go for the tactical foul early in a Spurs move. It’s a booking this time for the forward.

That’s the goal that Spurs needed to open things up a bit, although how much Palace will come out now remains to be seen (my guess is not very much more).

GOOOAAALLL!!! Gareth Bale opens the scoring for Spurs! Palace give the ball away deep in their own half after pressure from Lucas, and it’s Harry Kane who picks it up. The forward does well to draw the two covering defenders across to him as he bursts towards the near post, and then he slides a cross through to the unmarked Bale to tap home. 1-0!

Doherty does well to put a cross in to Son that comes to nothing, and moments later the full-back is found again by a lovely cross-field pass from Alderweireld. This time he can’t find the delivery.

This game really needs a goal. Palace are so compact and so solid that there’s just no space for Spurs to work with, and you get the feeling that the visitors would be very happy to complete their hattrick of 0-0 draws.

Townsend does very well to get away down the Palace right and tries to bend a ball through to Benteke, but it’s slightly overhit for the forward and Lloris claims.

Reguilon and Son link up down the left and the former chips in a cross towards Kane, but it’s well defended by Palace. Space is very much at a premium for the hosts and they need to make sure that they really take advantage of any opportunities to break, otherwise breaking Palace down is going to be extremely tough.

Winks wins a foul in midfield just as Cahill looks like he’s got some space to maraud into. That’s handy from Winks and he’s a tidy player, but it is quite stark the difference in Tottenham’s play when he starts in midfield rather than Tanguy Ndombele. There isn’t much in the way of link play, and Kane and Son are being forced to drop very deep to try and do the job that the Frenchman normally would.

Palace are looking very compact this evening, sitting in their banks of four with Ayew and Benteke ahead, and it could be hard work for Spurs to break them down.

Ward has taken a nasty landing after being wiped out by Hojbjerg and he gets a few tests from the Palace physios. Thankfully he looks okay to continue.

Big chance for Son. Bale does well down the right, cutting back from the byline and chipping a lovely cross right onto the head of Son, but his header is straight into the arms of Guaita. That should be 1-0.

Eze goes in hard on Son in the centre of the park and gets a talking to from the ref. Palace are clearly keen to stop Spurs before they can break through the lines and launch attacks from deep – that’s twice now that the home side have had their moves illegally halted early on.

Spurs have started the better of the two sides and Reguilon almost puts Palace in trouble as he nabs possession in the box and pulls it back for Lucas, but the Brazilian gets in a bit of a muddle and the chance disappears.

And away we go. Both teams are in their traditional colours.

The teams are out and we’re all set for kick-off.

Palace’s recent record away in Tottenham isn’t exactly promising for them either. They have not won at Spurs in their last eight visits, have lost in their last five, and have not scored a single goal in any of their last seven.

That draw in December is just the second point that Palace have taken off Tottenham in the last 11 matches between the two clubs. Spurs’ unbeaten run in this fixture (W9 D2) is their longest against any current top-flight club.
That’s enough of that, back to the game in hand. Palace took a point off Spurs when these sides met back in December. That was a result that came at the start of Tottenham’s slide down the table, and it was a pretty even contest in truth, with the draw probably the fair result.
And of course there’s the Manchester derby, which finished within the last hour and saw United end City’s extraordinary winning run. Whether it’s breathed new life back into the title race remains to be seen.
