TOTTENHAM VS EVERTON Good afternoon and welcome to our live-text coverage of Tottenham vs Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both sides have high hopes this season. Jose Mourinho wants his side to learn how to ‘win ugly’, while he’ll be desperate to restore Spurs to Champions League status and perhaps even win them a trophy. Everton, on the other hand, begin their first season under stewardship of three-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti, who joined the club last December. They’ve signed Colombian supremo James Rodriguez and Brazilian Allan, both drawn to the club thanks to the Italian’s stellar reputation. Are Everton taking things to the next level? A big week with plenty to prove for both sides, so stay with us for all the build-up, team news, hype and highlights ahead of kick-off at 16:30.

Doherty us playing high on the right side as he's used to do at Wolves, but without three centre-backs behind him he was almost exposed there, because he was nowhere to be seen when Richarlison was in down the left.
Fantasy football managers beware, Doherty may have to have the reigns put on him.
20'
Alderweireld was very slow on the uptake there, even if Davies backpass was sloppy.
Richarlison had his number for pace and did all the hard work, but he's blown the chance.

WHAT A MISS!
Richarlison is through after a very shaky backpass by Davies. He sweeps past Lloris and the goal is wide open but it's tough on the angle and he shanks it over.
A gift of an opening and they've spurned it.
13'
Spurs targeting Coleman at right-back with Son's runs behind but so far Everton look the more accomplished side.
The quality of their play up to the final third is looking very good, but now they need to get some killer passes in.
10'
Everton looking very comforatble on the ball with their new spine of Doucoure, Allan and James.
Mina completes an all-Colombia pass to James and the Toffees press Spurs again.
7'
First sign of James the playmaker as he slots in Gomes down the left, but Calvert-Lewin eventually concedes possession.
England captain Harry Kane has his first touch of the game and almost sets Son away with a clever dink over the top.
4'
Son almost gets in behind Coleman but the right-back makes a fine recovery.
The South Korean is so quick though...and Alli was in the middle ready waiting for a tap in.
2'
Typically lively start from Lucas Moura as Alderweireld picks him out from deep.
Everton yet to have a touch of the ball after 80 seconds.
Coleman goes up against the man who has displaced him in the Ireland team, Matt Doherty. And Doherty does get his first few touches in a Spurs shirt.

THREE MINUTE WARNING
16:25
LAST TIME EVERTON BEAT SPURS
...Sir Alex Ferguson was still in the Man Utd job.
Cast your mind back to 2012. Everton beat Spurs 201 at Goodison Park.
But there's a distinctly different feel about Ancelotti-inspired Everton.

WE PREDICT
Top four struggle for Spurs.
Spurs could certainly challenge for fourth place if they hit the ground running. They have had months off compared to the other top sides, and both these Spurs players and Mourinho squads in the past have delivered some brutally fit and energetic sides.
Beyond that, the most important thing to keep an eye on is the January transfer window. If Spurs are struggling and Mourinho doesn't get any help, expect him to kick off. Levy will know that Mourinho is a chequebook manager who rarely backs down, so there could be fireworks.
The other extension of that is that into a second season some players might tire of him acting as captain aggro. Despite his £15 million wages, at some point it will be cheaper to sack him than replace the insurrectionists. This though is Mourinho's last chance at a high profile club, and it is in the city he loves. Perhaps this time he will finally change his ways. Probably not though.

MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

FIGHTING TALK
Mourinho has criticised his side for being 'too nice', and looks determined to turn them into born winners.
"Our ambition is to win every match," said Mourinho in an interview with Sky Sports. "Our target is to go to every match, thinking and feeling that we go to that match to win. It doesn't matter the competition, the opponent, I want Tottenham to have this level of confidence to go to every match to win.
"It is good to be nice lads, but it is good also to have that competitive mentality, that aggression and ambition that you need. I was never afraid to establish with my boys some difficult targets, and not be afraid of going for it."

JAMES STARTS
All eyes on the Colombian after Ancelotti signed him for the third time after bringing him to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Allan, who joined this summer from Napoli, also grabs himself a debut.
Oh, and Doucoure, who joined Everton from Watford.
