A wonderful start to the season for Newcastle and exactly the beginning David Moyes did not want after an unhappy summer.

Straight away Almiron, who has looked very lively, races through on goal but Ogbonna does very well to retreat and snuff out his shot

Yarmolenko turns in from the right flank and rocketed a shot on target forcing Darlow to make a sharp stop.

Five minutes of injury time for West Ham fans to endure.

GOAL! Another debutant, another goal. And what a strike it was from Jeff Hendrick. Almiron on as a substitute was cool in the box and played it across the area to the Irish midfielder who fired the ball into the roof of the net.

West Ham now camped in the Newcastle half and Fredericks' cross is headed goalwards by Haller but Darlow saves comfortably.

Antonio puts a dangerous looking ball into the box but Fernandez puts it behind for a corner. This kick reaches the unmarked Yarmolenko at the back post and he fires in an effort that is deflected wide.

Joelinton comes on for Saint-Maximin.

Wilson not far away from a second for Newcastle. A fine ball from Hendrick played in Manquillo down the right flank and his dinked cross was just out of reach of Wilson's outstretched leg.

Manquillo is booked for a foul on Bowen.

It did hit Hendrick's arm but the arm was retreating. No penalty given.

West Ham are in the Newcastle box and claim a penalty for a possible handball from Jeff Hendrick but Stuart Attwell the referee shakes his head.

Haller and Yarmolenko come on for Fornals and Noble - you have to say playing him in the hole behind Antonio hasn't worked.

No touches in the Newcastle area for West Ham in the first 20 minutes of the second half. That really is an indictment.

Antonio forces a corner off Shelvey. A set piece looks like West Ham's best chance of a goal. This one is comfortably cleared though.

GOAL! Callum Wilson nets on his debut. A strange goal, Hendrick reacted quickly to get a flick on to Manquillo's cross and Wilson's outstretched boot beats Fabianski to the ball and puts it in the net.

A caution for Fredericks and it's been coming. Unsurprisingly it's for a foul on Saint-Maximin.

Have to say as much talent as Rice has, some of his passing can be so wayward. A good example here as he sprays a ball 20 yards over the head of his intended target.

Fredericks saves a goal there. Wilson clips a ball to the back post that deflects off Rice and Fredericks just gets in front of Carroll to stop him having an effort on goal.

West Ham's skipper Mark Noble gets us restarted.
