West Brom are awarded a free-kick in their own half, but it’s illustrative of the tactics this evening that that's enough of an opportunity for the defenders to head forward into the box. The set-piece is humped long again, but West Ham clear. It’s not clever and it’s not pretty, but if they try it enough then it might just work – the Hammers don’t ever look comfortable with it.

Cresswell gets away from his man down the left and dinks a nice cross in, but the finish doesn’t quite match the quality of the delivery and Johnstone makes a comfortable stop.

Coufal pops up in the opposition box and his shot takes a deflection and flies inches wide of the post. That was decent from the West Ham full-back.

A free-kick is hit long into the box again by West Brom, but it won't quite fall for them and Fabianski gratefully grabs the loose ball.

It's not going to be easy to break down this West Ham defence tonight. David Moyes' side are looking for their fourth consecutive clean sheet, which would be the first time since 2014 they've achieved such a run. The man in charge back then is sat in the visiting dugout this evening...

West Brom have grown into the game into the last few minutes and go close to opening up the hosts again. Pereira’s ball across the edge of the box is dangerous, but it can’t quite pick out a yellow-and-green shirt.

That’s the first decent opening for West Brom, who open up the Hammers for the first time. Grosicki can’t quite pick out a final pass, but he keeps hold of it and cuts back before teeing up Pereira for a shot that flies over the bar.

It’s fair to say that this hasn’t exactly been a thrilling start, but West Ham are playing marginally the better football of the two sides.

West Ham win themselves a corner and the big boys all head forward. It’s horribly defended and Dawson drifts into space completely unmarked at the back post, but his header floats wide. He should have done better there.

West Brom pump a free-kick long into the box, but Antonio gets his head to it and the hosts try to play the ball out. It’s risky, but a foul inside the box as the Baggies press to win the ball back relieves the pressure.

It’s been a cagey start, with both teams packing midfield and no clear attacking opportunities of note so far.

West Ham, in their usual claret and blue, get the game underway. West Brom are kitted out in their yellow and green away strip… a very Norwich City style look.
Here we go then, the players are out and we’re all set for kick-off at the London Stadium as bubbles float through the air and into the empty stands.
We've got half an hour until kick-off, so why not check out the latest big transfer stories from across Europe in our live transfer blog, which today is being run by the ever-informative Graham Ruthven:
West Brom, in contrast, are in dire straits, and even the usual early impact of Sam Allardyce’s arrival hasn’t particularly materialised. The Baggies did win last time out (a 3-2 win over Wolves), but that was just the club’s second victory of the season and they remain in the relegation zone and five points from safety having played a game more than the two clubs directly above them (Fulham and Burnley).
West Ham are enjoying a quietly solid season and go into this game on the back of four games unbeaten and two straight wins. Victory for the Hammers tonight would see them leapfrog Chelsea and Southampton into the top seven (albeit having played a game more).
Big Sam Allardyce isn’t the only former West Ham man returning to east London with the Baggies this evening, but the club’s new midfielder Robert Snodgrass won’t make an appearance against his former club due to an agreement between the two clubs as part of his transfer just two weeks ago.
The big team news for the Hammers is that David Moyes hands a return to the starting line-up for Lanzini. Antonio is deemed fit enough to start his third match in nine days.
