For Palace, it's a 4-4-2 shape. Vicente Guaita is shielded by Nathaniel Clyne and Tyrick Mitchell either side of Marc Guehi and James Tomkins, with Joachim Andersen not passed fit. In the middle of the park, Conor Gallagher partners Cheikou Kouyate, with Jeff Schlupp and Jordan Ayew expected on the flanks, allowing Wilfried Zaha to join Christian Benteke up top, offering the threat on the counter feeding off the Belgian's flick-ons.

Rangnick keeps the team selection constant in his first game in charge. Fred and Scott McTominay start, with Bruno Fernandes ahead of them in the engine room. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford flank Cristiano Ronaldo, with full-backs Alex Telles and Diogo Dalot keeping their places.
