Brendan Rodgers has left his role as manager of Leicester City with the club currently in the Premier League relegation zone. The Northern Irishman was appointed in 2019, leading the Foxes to their first FA Cup triumph two years later. However, things have not gone to plan this season and having overseen a seven-game winless run, the club has decided to take action.

Rodgers fired by relegation-threatened Leicester

Leicester City have parted company with Brendan Rodgers, the club have announced.
The Foxes dropped into the Premier League’s bottom three on Saturday following a 2-1 loss at fellow strugglers Crystal Palace, a run that extends their winless run to seven games.
Leicester haven’t tasted victory since a 4-1 win over Tottenham on February 11, taking just one point from their last six league games. They were also stunned by Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The club’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said performances and results during the current season have been “below our shared expectations”.
Rodgers was appointed manager in February 2019, guiding the club to their first FA Cup triumph in 2021.
The Northern Irishman also achieved two of the club’s three highest Premier League finishes and led them to consecutive European campaigns, including their first European semi-final in 2022.
Assistant manager Chris Davies and first team fitness coach Glen Driscoll will also leave their roles.
First team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take immediate responsibility of affairs, with a huge home game against Aston Villa on Tuesday to follow next.
Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves – we’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us to reach on the pitch.
“Off the pitch, Brendan embraced the culture of the club and helped cultivate an outstanding developmental environment, particularly during the transition to Seagrave, and provided strong leadership during the unprecedented challenge of the coronavirus pandemic. His place in Leicester City history is assured.
“However, performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations. It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management.
“Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the Board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status.
“The task ahead of us in our final 10 games is clear. We now need to come together – fans, players and staff – and show the poise, quality and fight to secure our position as a Premier League club.”
