Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian teenager Angelo Gabriel from Santos.
The 18-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee as one of the most promising young players in Brazil.
In October 2020, Gabriel became the youngest player in Brazilian top-flight history aged 15 years and 308 days, and after 129 games for his club he has scored five goals.
Gabriel has represented his country up to under-20 level but he has not yet won a cap for the full international team.
Chelsea have already signed two forwards in the transfer window: Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal for around £30 million, and £52m Frenchman Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
Mauricio Pochettino has focused on reducing the squad size after hundreds of millions of pounds were spent last summer and then in the winter transfer window.
Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Baba Rahman and Cesar Azpilicueta have all departed.
The club continue to be linked with Brighton’s Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo, though the south coast side are reportedly demanding £100m for the 21-year-old.
