Erik ten Hag watched his Manchester United team slump to another defeat in the Premier League on Sunday, when they were beaten 3-0 by champions Manchester City. Speaking after the loss, the Dutchman praised the first-half performance, but conceded that errors crept into his side's efforts as they chased the game in the second period of the match-up.

'Penalty changed the game' - Ten Hag reacts to home defeat to Man City

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said that his team were “making the wrong decisions” in their 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City.
Erling Haaland scored from the spot midway through the first half, before netting soon after the restart.
Phil Foden then scored on 80 minutes to make sure of victory.
United now sit eighth, eight points off fourth place in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification, and the defeat to City ends a brief run of good form for Ten Hag’s team.
Speaking to the BBC after the match, Ten Hag said the first-half performance was “very good” but there were errors in the second period.
He said: "The first half we played very good, we defended very well. We had good breaks, good opportunities but we could have taken more benefit. Then the penalty changes the game.
"We had to go offensive in the second half, we wanted to be more compact. We know they would press us, go high and go direct."
He then said that problems came with "the second goal. It came too early and then we're making the wrong decisions. We spoke about not pressing the 'keeper when it was not possible.
"The first half I think things went the way we wanted. The second half, at 2-0, you have to go against them out of shape and when you don't they will find the spare man. We have to be better organised."
Newcastle are United’s next opponents, in their League Cup tie on Wednesday, and Teg Hag remained positive despite coming up against a team backed with the kind of funding that will be denied him after a proposed Qatari takeover fell through recently.
He continued: "We are down, but we played a good game first half. We will be disappointed and annoyed, but tomorrow we will be there."
