Manchester City versus Arsenal LIVE: title rivals in Etihad showdown

Neither Manchester City or Arsenal could land a telling blow in the title race today, after a tense and cautious stalemate at the Etihad.

In a match where so much was expected of the attacking players on both sides, it was the two defences that were on top throughout.

Goalmouth action was at a premium. Nathan Ake mistimed a header from close range in the first half for City, while Gabriel Jesus just failed to connect with a low Bukayo Saka cross just after half-time.

A match marked by a lack of clear cut chances was summed up when a flicked on header went under the foot of Erling Haaland at the back post late in the second half.

The result means that Liverpool stay on top of the Premier League. Arsenal trail by two points, with City a point behind them.

Added time is like normal time; very little in it, very few chances. The spoils are shared at the Etihad, and that's a great result for Liverpool.

He jinks past his man on the right, but the impeccable Gabriel blocks the cross behind for a corner.

We'll have a minimum of five minutes. Needless to say, any goal now would be pretty seismic.

It's a head clash, and he's recieving treatment.

Odegaard released Trossard down the left of the pitch. Trossard could square it but opts to shoot from a narrow angle, and Ortega palms it away.

The corner is whipped in, and a flash header from (I think) Rodri flies through the area and under Haaland's foot at the back post!

There's one from Tomiyasu, as he needlessly concedes a corner.

It goes all the way over to Doku at the back post, but at a horrible height; unsure whether to volley or control it, Doku does neither and shins the ball out of play.

Rice wins it, and takes it; Akanji clears. The set pieces have been poor today.

Martinelli replaces Saka, as Raya gets a yellow for taking his time over a goal kick.

De Bruyne is warming up a bit here, and scampers down the left before finding Doku on the right edge. Doku cuts onto his left but his shot is shanked horribly high and wide.

De Bruyne robs Saka in the area, and squares a dangerous ball through the six yard box. Gabriel sees the danger though, and gets in a clearance with Haaland lurking.

It's Trossard for Jesus.

We're still in March so nothing is going to be decided today, so you wonder if either side will reallybet the farm on going for victory here. While the tempo has gone up in this half, the handbrakes still seem to be on.

He's been dicing with it, and he's been flashed a yellow here I think for time-wasting.

Tomiyasu and Partey replace Kiwior and Jorginho.

He lofts it to the front post, where Odegaard clears.

Saka brings down Grealish on the left wing, and it's a free kick in a useful position, just outside the area on the left.
