GOAL! SHEFFIELD UNITED 1 (ARCHER 33) EVERTON 1
What a lovely move this is. Hamer, from the right, whips a lovely cross into the penalty spot. McBurnie kills it with his back to goal, and lays off to Archer, who sidefoots a lovely strike into the right corner with Pickford rooted. That's a beauty.

BETTER FROM EVERTON
A lovely spin move from Garner on the right corner of the area takes him through a gap between two defenders. Garner then squares it to Doucoure, whose shot is blocked by Egan.

THE BIG LAUNCH
Pickford smashes the ball almost the full length of the pitch, to Beto on the edge of the Sheffield United area. He can't control it but the ball breaks to Danjuma on the left, who can only shoot meekly wide of the near post.

SCRAPPY
We're getting a bit bogged down now, and Bramall Lane is very quiet. Hamer finds some space in the pocket, but there's nothing on and he gives the ball away cheaply. That does liven up the home fans, but not in a positive way.

A BRIEF LULL
This has settled a touch, and it's Everton in possession for the most part.
21'
GOOD SAVE!
This is lively alright. Hamer latches on to a cut back to the edge of the area, and fires a low shot to the near post. Pickford gets down well, and turns it around the post.

END TO END
Crikey, now Sheffield United break. Larouci charges down the left, and suddenly it's two on two. Larouci doesn't get his head up either, and goes alone; his shot from wide is straight at Pickford.

BIG CHANCE!
Oh my. Everton suddenly break four on two. Danjuma leads it, with options to his right; he cuts in and shoots, and it deflects wide for a corner. If he'd lifted his head up at any stage there, it was surely two.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE
Everton are off the mark at last. In truth, they were unlucky not to get a penalty after Beto's shot was deflected for a corner off the elbow of Robinson, not that they'll be bothered now.

GOAL! SHEFFIELD UNITED 0 EVERTON 1 (DOUCOURE 14)
Ashley Young's corner is lofted to Onana at the back stick. Onana heads it down, and it drops to the unmarked Doucoure in the six yard box. He knees it at goal, Fodderingham parries; it falls back to Doucoure, who has a simple tap-in to give Everton the lead!

CHANCE!
Everton work a shooting opportunity for Beto on the edge, but it's deflected out for a corner. And then...

BLADES ON TOP
Hamer has started well, and intercepts a ball in the centre circle. From there he fires a pass through the middle to Archer, who looks in for a brief second. He can't get it out of his feet though, and Tarkowski gets back to clear.

FREE HEADER
It's a soft delivery to the back post; Egan has escaped Beto, and has a look at goal from six yards, but can only generate a meek header straight at Pickford.
9'
OOF
Branthwaite wipes out Hamer on the right edge of the box, and is immediately booked. That was a late one, and the hosts have a free kick in a dangerous spot.

CORNER
Good link up play from Archer and McBurnie forces the first corner of the match. It's taken short and worked to Baldock, whose inswinger is cleared.

LONG FREE KICK
Norwood launches a long, diagonal free-kick into the box, but Ahmedhodzic had fouled Onana and it's a free kick to Everton. There's a jumpy feel to this so far, both sides no the importance of this one.

GOOD START FOR EVERTON
Patterson is to the fore already, whipping a dangerous cross into the box that Egan nods away.
