Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United: Premier League latest as Ange Postecoglou's men end five-match winless run in style

Son Heung-min led from the front as Spurs ended a five-match winless run in the Premier League with a stylish 4-1 thrashing of struggling Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After losing their three previous home matches to Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham, Ange Postecoglou's side returned to their exhilarating early-season best on Sunday, boosted by the delightful supply and finishing work of captain Son.

Operating wide left for Spurs, Son glided beyond Kieran Trippier before crossing for Destiny Udogie to score his first goal for the energised London side on 26 minutes.

And the trickery of Son worked a treat 12 minutes later, when he again left the former Spurs right-back Trippier trailing in providing the perfect cutback for Richarlison to tuck home a merited second.

Injury-ravaged Newcastle opened both halves in positive fashion, but were undone twice more with Richarlison converting the third and his second from close range on 60 minutes before Son won and slammed home a penalty on 85 minutes.

Newcastle weren't at the races due to injuries, but Tottenham got the job done superbly well with a professional job well carried out. They run out 4-1 winners on the day to remain fifth top of the table.

The Spurs captain was really superb today. Into five minutes of added time.

That was a nasty challenge by Romero. Late and totally unnecessary on Wilson, whose ankle was exposed to the challenge, but it remains a yellow card. That could easily have been red.

Giovani Lo Celso replaces Richarlison with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg on for Pape Matar Sarr.

Looks like Richarlison is going to be taken off here on the cusp of a rare treble.

Son and Kulusevski both go for goal with shots from outside the Newcastle box, but no real menace for Dúbravka to deal with. Spurs fans back in party mood. Going to make a few changes of their own here too.
