West Ham United versus Tottenham Hotspur LIVE: battle for European places in London derby

The ball squirms out of a blocked Bowen shot on the edge, and Vicario slides across to prevent the corner. These aren't easy conditions for goalkeepers particularly, the ball is the proverbial wet bar of soap tonight.

Bowen gets one on one with Van de Ven down the right, and goes for the byline; Van de Ven expertly robs him of the ball though, and goes the other way wiith it.

Bowen wins a corner for West Ham, and takes it himself. The delivery is superb, whipped in to the heart of the six yard box; Zouma jumps and misses it with his head, but the ball catches him on the back and flies into the goal!

Udogie goes shoulder to shoulder down the left with Paqueta, who eventually bundles him over. It's a free kick right on the corner of the area, and Maddison will take it. He whips it in, but doesn't beat the first man.

This time it's just about cut out by Mavropanos, and West Ham eventually clear. That was the same area that the goal came from, and Spurs are pushing hard here for another one.

Maddison is orchestrating things again, this time on the left with Werner. When it comes back to Maddison he lays it off to Son just inside the area, and his curler to the far corner is plucked from the sky by Fabianski.

Spurs fly forwards again, with Maddison and Son working it between them down the right wing. Son tries to find Maddison in the area, but diligent defensive work from Paqueta nixes the danger.

Spurs work an intricate move right across the face of the Spurs box. It reaches Porro on the right and just outside the area, and he whistles a low drive just past the far post.

Coufal wins it, Bowen takes it. The ball is unconvincingly palmed out by Viacario, and a hooked effort from Kudus clips Romero and goes over.

Crikey - Spurs go straight up the other end and score! A nice move through the middle ends with Udogie feeding Werner on the left of the area. Werner jinks to the side and drills a low cross into the six yard box, where Johnson is unmarked and tucks it in to give Spurs the lead!

An early look here for the in-form Bowen, as a cross comes in from the left and he meets it first, only to shin the ball wide from eight yards out.

Early signs here that the players will need to adjust to a pacy surface out there, as the ball is zipping around like it's air hockey.

It's like the fourth of July out there, with a spectacular array of lights and explosions before the match kicks off. The teams are in the tunnel, and it's almost time.

In his press conference this week, Ange Postecoglou rightly pointed out that the eight point gap between Spurs and Manchester United is exactly the same gap with Manchester City above them. A top four/five finish is theirs to lose, but Postecoglou will be wary of any slip ups before a taxing run of fixtures in April and early May. A win here could be a significant step towards Champions League football next season.

West Ham might be aching a bit after that 4-3 epic on Saturday, but they’ll have to get over it quickly. Spurs tonight represent a significant challenge for David Moyes’s side; they then go to Wolves on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen next Thursday before returning home for another London ding dong with Fulham three days after that. The schedule is packed, and stacked with quality opposition.

There’s one change for the hosts tonight, Lukas Fabianski will continue in goal after replacing Alphonse Areola during West Ham’s defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.

Spurs make three changes to their team from the weekend. Micky van de Ven returns in place of Radu Dragusin, Rodrigo Bentancur comes in for Pape Sarr and Brennan Johnson gets the nod ahead of Dejan Kulusevski.
