Aston Villa defeated Fulham 3-1 as they continued their impressive early-season form while West Ham beat Nottingham Forest and Brighton drew with Sheffield United in Sunday's Premier League action.
Fulham's Antonee Robinson opened the scoring, but did so by putting the ball into his own net midway through the first half.
Midfielder John McGinn then put a shot into the bottom right corner of the net to put the home side 2-0 up three minutes before the break.
Ollie Watkins was on hand to convert Leon Bailey’s assist on 64 minutes to put Unai Emery’s men 3-0 up and cruising for victory.
Fulham striker Raul Jiminez hit the woodwork before pulling one back on 70 minutes as the away side rallied but they were unable to get close to their opponents.
Villa now have six consecutive home league wins as they extended a 13-match home winning streak going back to last season. It completes an impressive week for the club after a 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Aston Villa, in fifth, moved to within a point of fourth-placed Tottenham while Fulham sit 16th, six points above the relegation zone.
West Ham led early against Nottingham Forest but had to come from behind in a 3-2 home triumph at the London Stadium.
Lucas Paqueta, linked once more with a move to Manchester City, as he continues to impress, scored after three minutes when he seized on an error from defender Nicolas Dominguez.
David Moyes’ side held onto their lead until the 44th-minute when Taiwo Awoniyi scored from close range to convert a rebound after Alphonse Areola beat away Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort.
Anthony Elanga put the away side ahead just after the hour mark after being teed up by Ola Aina, finishing in the bottom corner, but two minutes later Jarrod Bowen headed home from a James Ward-Prowse corner.
With two minutes of normal time remaining, another Ward-Prowse corner was met by Tomas Soucek to claim all three points and bring to an end a string of three league defeats for the home side.
West Ham - who recorded a 1-0 win over Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday - move up to ninth spot, while Forest stay 15th.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United secured a 1-1 draw against 10-man Brighton.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side led after just six minutes when Simon Adingra opened the scoring.
While Brighton looked to be in control despite their slender advantage, a rash challenge from their midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud on Ben Osborn saw him sent off on 69 minutes.
United were able to create chances with a man advantage and Jayden Bogle put the ball into his own net on 74 minutes to earn a share of the points.
Brighton stay eighth in the table while Paul Heckingbottom’s team move off the bottom spot and into 19th.
