Aberdeen duo Barry Nicholson and Chris Clark have been cleared for the first game of the season after the Scottish FA confirmed they will take no action against the midfielders for picking up red cards in Egypt.
Aberdeen had been gathering video evidence of the match against El Itthad, in the event that they needed to make an appeal. Both players will no escape suspension but will have point added to the disciplinary records.
"They are honest lads," boss Jimmy Calderwood said. "Clark was booked for two acts of dissent, but I think I would have kicked the referee twice had it been me.
"Barry did absolutely nothing. Their player smacked Chris Maguire, but Barry did nothing."
Aberdeen open their SPL campaign against Dundee United at Tannadice on August 4.
