Internazionale president Massimo Moratti is unsure whether deals to sell Mario Balotelli to Manchester City and buy Javier Mascherano from Liverpool will happen.
Italy U21 striker Balotelli, who is set to make his senior Nerazzuri debut in a friendly against Ivory Coast in London on Tuesday, has been linked with a move to England since last season.
Big-spending City emerged as prime contenders and the clubs have been locked in negotiations over a £30 million transfer, but progress has been slow.
"There have been no big steps forward, we will see," Moratti said about his rebellious teenage striker.
If Inter do not sell during what has generally been a quiet European transfer window then moves for Argentina captain Mascherano (pictured) and Genoa midfielder Giuseppe Sculli will not go ahead, especially with Liverpool wanting big money for the former.
"At these prices it's not possible at this moment, especially having not sold anyone," the president said ahead of Inter's first Serie A game at Bologna on August 30.
