Saelemaekers, who is playing as a right back, told Milan TV: “I don’t have any particular position that I prefer more than others. I just try to give all I can to help the team, that’s what is important to me.

“The team is almost back to full strength now, it was a really difficult period playing without so many important players. We have to prove today that we are a strong team."

Sampdoria are without Albin Ekdal and Ernesto Torregrossa but have Gabbiadini partnering 38-year-old Quagliarella up front.

Ante Rebic had his two match suspension reduced to one on appeal but he is on the bench. Ismael Bennacer is back but Davide Calabria, Alessio Romagnoli, Rafael Leao and Mario Mandzukic are still out.
