GIROUD HITS THE WOODWORK!

GIROUD HEADS WIDE!
Rade Krunic is tripped by Giovanni Di Lorenzo, winning a free kick high up the field. Milan play it short and move the ball between the lines before Tonali gets down the left and picks out Giroud, whose header is off target.

CLOSE!
Tonali sends a long ball up to Giroud. Kim Min-jae fails to clear and it ends up with Hernandez, who thrashes a ball across the face of goal which narrowly evades Charles De Ketelaere.

SET-PIECE DANGER
Calabria gets away down the right and wins a corner from Mario Rui. Sandro Tonali's delivery is cleared as far as Theo Hernandez, whose lashed shot is deflected away off Giroud.

GOOD TACKLE
Piotr Zielinski gets away from Ismael Bennacer in midfield and tears up the left wing. He's shut out by a combination of Kjaer and Davide Calabria, before Fikayo Tomori does well to slide in and take the ball off Giacomo Raspadori.

GOOD DEFENDING
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia tries to make inroads down the left flank, but Simon Kjaer bullies him off the ball. Kvaratskhelia goes down clutching his chest, but there's nothing in it.

BIG NAMES MISSING
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is missing with injury this evening, while Milan wide man Rafael Leao is suspended after his sending-off against Sampdoria last weekend. As arguably their respective sides' most influential players, their absence will add an element of unpredictability to proceedings.

ARE NAPOLI THE REAL DEAL THIS SEASON?
After so many near misses in recent years, Napoli need to show their ruthless side in the title race this term. There's no better way to do so than to beat the reigning champions away from home, so this game could be pivotal.
Speaking earlier this week, Luciano Spalletti suggested Milan were favourites. "They are the Italian champions, they have some advantage and we will have to be good at growing quickly, more than them, because having won [the title] they were given further strength and having started again well they reconfirmed it," he said.

MILAN IN SOLID FORM
Stefano Pioli's side come into this game with three wins from their last five matches in all competitions, with their latest triumph coming against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Wednesday. Strikes from OIivier Giroud, Alexis Saelemaekers and Tommaso Pobega gave them a 3-1 victory and, despite conceding a second-half goal to Mislav Orsic, the Rossoneri were dominant from start to finish.
Like Napoli, they are still unbeaten this season and, like Napoli, they have four wins and two draws in the league. There isn't much between them, in other words, which makes this game all the more intriguing.
