Inter Milan v Juventus live: Old rivals go head-to-head for huge three points

The game has come to life and tempers are starting to flare. Barella is the first name in the book and there's some afters involving Lukaku.

It's one-way traffic here. At the restart, Juventus steal possession and come again. Kostic is back in space and finds Soule in the box, but the youngster loses his balance and fires wide.

That's a surprise. It looked like the ball definitely brushed Rabiot's arm but after a lengthy check, VAR confirms Juve's goal. 0-1.

After withstanding a spell of Inter pressure, Juventus are ahead. Rabiot does really well on the edge of the box to work some space and feed Kostic on the left. The midfielder assesses his options before opting to shoot and rifling it into the bottom corner.

Inter have a free-kick in a dangerous area on the left-hand side but the visitors do well to scramble the ball clear. It sits up well for Calhanoglu, who lets fly from way out but he can't control his effort and it sails over the bar.

The hosts enjoy a spell of possession before Barella and Lukaku work a magnificent one-two to set the former bearing down on goal. He strikes the half-volley really sweetly but it's straight at Szczesny, who gets down to save well.

Martinez and Locatelli slide in for a 50-50 with the Inter striker coming off worse. There's no intent there from the Juve man and play is waved on.

Juventus are growing into this one as Soule charges forward. Calhanoglu does brilliantly to slide in and retrieve the ball.

Some slack play at the back by Inter nearly gifts their opponents a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring. Kostic's ball into the box is easily intercepted and the hosts escape punishment.

The Inter midfielder is on the wrong end of a sore one after a coming together with Soule. He limps off the pitch but looks set to return to the fray imminently.

It's been a quiet start but the hosts look more comfortable in the early phase. As I say that, Juventus win a corner, which is whipped in by Kostic but Lukaku heads it clear.

Brozovic is afforded acres of space to move forward for Inter. The ball eventually falls to Barella, who unleashes a shot from distance that Szczesny does well to tip over the bar for a corner.

It’s always a big game when these two sides meet in the Derby d’Italia and this edition is no different. Napoli are out of sight in top spot but the battle for a top-four finish looks set to come down to the wire. With Lazio winning earlier, the pressure is on for Inter to match their rivals.

However, the task will be far from easy. Juventus come into the match in seventh, 10 points behind AC Milan in fourth, but still with an outside chance of closing the gap to defy the 15-point deduction they were assessed earlier in the season.

Simone Inzaghi has made three changes to the team that drew with Porto last time out. Stefan de Vrij is in at the back, with Marcelo Brozovic replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the midfield. Edin Dzeko misses out up front as Romelu Lukaku starts alongside Lautaro Martinez.

Inzaghi’s opposite number, Max Allegri, has named a largely unchanged side from the Europa League last-16 clash with Freiburg on Thursday. Only Juan Cuadrado and Moise Kean are withdrawn, replaced by Mattia De Sciglio and Matias Malvano respectively.
