Inter Milan overcame an inspired Udinese 2-1 thanks to a 95th-minute Davide Frattesi winner despite playing some way off their best, and kept their romp to the Serie A title going by restoring their 14-point lead at the top.

The runaway league leaders were the last team relegation-threatened Udinese needed but Gabriele Cioffi’s injury-hit side threw the form book out of the window by taking a gutsy lead just before half-time thanks to a comedy of errors in the visiting defence.

Yann Sommer and Denzel Dumfries each left the other to deal with Lazar Samardzic’s plodding cross-turned shot and then looked on with horror as it rolled into the net, but that at least finally kicked Inter into life after an equally plodding start.

The champions-in-waiting didn’t take long to hit back, after seeing a 48th-minute goal disallowed, Hakan Calhanoglu fired home a penalty soon after and both sides had chances to win it at the death.

But despite extending his goal drought to four games, Lautaro Martinez proved you can’t keep a good man down as his injury-time skidded shot thudded into the post and straight back into the path of Frattesi to break home hearts.

And Udinese can't find a late equaliser. They deserved something out of that game and their players look shell-shocked on the pitch, in stark contrast to Inter who are mobbing Frattesi like he scored the winner in a cup final!

Heartbreak for Udinese, jubilation for Inter! The hosts have battled so well tonight but it will be all for nothing as a neat backheel from Marko Arnautovic found Martinez at full pelt. His low driven shot slams into the post but bounces back straight into the path of Frattesi, and that's surely game over...

Deary me, it's all falling apart for Cioffi's men. They've fought so hard tonight but Thauvin now collapses, initially it appeared he was looking for a foul but he clutched his hamstring instead and is immediately surrounded by medical staff.

That's not what you want to see. Lovric has only been on the field for 20 minutes but now he's being stretchered off and Festy Ebosele trots on.

It's more fantastic work from Thauvin to break free, but once again Inter swarm quickly to cut off his cut-back. Meanwhile the striker's opposite number has departed.

Thuram timed his run perfectly to latch onto Barella's perfectly-weighted pass, and sent Kristensen slipping before getting to the byline and pulling it back to Frattesi. The substitute had made a late run into the box but chipped his shot over wastefully and it remains 0-0.

They're still pushing for a winner! Thauvin wriggled free in the middle of the pitch and sprinted forward, but Inter's defence was back very quickly and he's eventually forced to shoot over from distance.
