A classic Ronaldinho free-kick was not enough to prevent Atletico Mineiro from suffering a shock 3-1 loss to Moroccan champions Raja Casablanca in the Club World Cup semi-final.
The Brazilian superstar brought his side level on 63 minutes with a curling free-kick from 22 yards that looped over the wall to land in the net via a post after Mouhssine Iajour had given Casablanca the lead with a lovely finish from the edge of the Atletico area.
As the match began to open up, Atletico were caught wide open at the back for a second time as Rever was deemed to have brought down Mouhssine Iajour as he dashed into the area.
It was a harsh call, but captain Mouhssine Moutouali kept his cool to send goalkeeper Victor the wrong way from the spot.
With four minutes added to the match and Atletico pushing for the equaliser to force extra-time, Raja put the game to bed when Mouhssine Moutouali clipped the bar with a lob, but Vianney Mabide was alert to follow up and convert the rebound to finish off Atletico, whose noisy band of travelling fans could hardly believe the outcome.
Raja Casablanca face the daunting task of having to overcome Champions League holders Bayern Munich in Saturday's final.
Bayern strolled into the final with a 3-0 win over Guangzhou Evergrande on Tuesday.
