Poor Jose Mourinho: if only the plebs could understand. Except many of them do understand, and that know that a lot of what he says is right. The question is whether it needs saying all the time and is the reason Manchester United were so pathetic against Sevilla. Hint: it doesn’t and it isn’t. Either way, they’d better not lose tonight, but in Brighton will face organised and focused opposition with the defence to frustrate and enough in attack to threaten. This is going to be interesting.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your weekend. Bye!

So United join Spurs in the semi-finals with another turgid, tight, tedious performance. No one will want them in the semis, because football is meant to be fun.

Full-time: Manchester United 2-0 Brighton & Hove Albion
90+2'
Gross slips a ball down the right of the box for Murray, who feeds it back to him, but Smalling is over to smother the danger.
90'
There'll be three added minutes.

You might have thought that after Tuesday, United would have tried taking it to Brighton. You'd be wrong.

Change for United: Fellaini replaces Lingard.

Young stretches and slides in a challenge with Locadia and catches his leg underneath his back. He stays down for a bit, so Mourinho takes the opportunity to chew the fat with Schelotto.

Liverpool and Spurs are beneath this United side in the table. Might it possibly be that they're not as good as they or others deem them to be?

GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Brighton (Matic) United win a free-kick on the left, 25 yards out, roundabout level with the edge of the box, and Young curls a beauty onto Matic's head at the far post; he guides across Krul and that's that. He's been United's best player tonight.
82'
Nice from Brighton, Locadia into Kayal, who flicks outside him for Dunk, marauding down the left. And what a cross he produces, stabbed low with the outside of his right foot. Smalling does really well to shepherd Murray away from the ball.
81'
Lingard and Rashford link up down the left and find Matic, who shimmies into the box - really he does - and crosses onto Dunk's head.
79'
There's basically no actio meriting description, but Martial and Kayal have a little wrestle, the former grabbing the latter by the waist and then squaring up for minor facial entry. Whatevz.

This game needs putting out of its misery.

Brighton replace Ulloa with Murray. I don't know - both their changes have been like for like, when they're losing a cup-tie with not much time left.
75'
The winners of this match get to play in an FA Cup semi-final. I'm reminding you of that because to watch these two sides tapping about, you'd never, ever know.

Change for United: Rashford comes on for Mata. Mata has done nothing, it's true, but the problem is how slowly he's being provided with the ball more than what he's done with it.
73'
United's first attack in a while, the ball spread to Mata who's wandered over to the left. His first-time cross hits the first man.
71'
Kayal does well to slip a square pass for Izquierdo, who nips across Bailly - he's had a miserable game - but Smalling is over quickly to snuff out the danger.
70'
Izquierdo and Schelotto combine, the latter getting down the wing and crossing, Matic blocking well. So Brighton try down the left, and this time find Izquierdo outside the box, but in looking to make an angle to shoot, Matic has time to block again.
