No surprise to see this start at a thunderous pace. Liverpool are first to show, but Origi can't control Williams' deep cross from the right.

Liverpool won the last clash in the FA Cup when they beat the Blues 2-1 exactly two years ago today. It was their only win in five cup showdowns at Anfield, with the other four all drawn. However, the Reds are unbeaten in 20 league and cup matches against Everton, winning on 10 occasions.

ANCELOTTI v LIVERPOOL: The Italian manager has triumphed in seven of 12 matches versus the Reds. That includes overseeing a 2-0 win for Napoli in the Champions League back in September. In those dozen encounters Liverpool have managed to score a total of 9 goals. Ancelotti has also enjoyed success in the FA Cup with Chelsea, winning seven of nine matches while also guiding the Londoners to the cup in 2010.

32 days later... Having seen the team sheet, Everton will be quietly confident they can gain early revenge after Liverpool rampaged to a 5-2 league win in the Anfield derby just a few weeks ago. It was the first time the Reds had scored four times in the opening half of a derby since 1935 and they have gone from strength to strength since that night, lifting the Club World Cup and stretching their lead at the summit of the PL. Everton have shown signs of improvement since Marco Silva's last stand and have lost just one of six league games since suffering a heavy derby-day loss.

Ancelotti: "It is a fantastic challenge but also a fantastic opportunity... Every derby is a special game. I know how different this game is. Of course Liverpool is the favourite, but in a derby you never know what is going on."

Here's what Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool's official website about his team selection: "It’s nice, it’s not too experienced, but all the good things the boys are responsible for and if one or two things don’t work out then it’s my responsibility, easy as that. I hope they feel that freedom and go for it.”

Just the NINE changes for Liverpool today. Only James Milner and Joe Gomez remain from the side that started the victory over Sheffield United on January 2. New signing Takumi Minamino makes his bow.
