Son fails to score with an impudent backheel and, with that, the first half of extra time draws to a close. If neither side scores in the next 15 minutes, it goes to penalties.

First, a nice passing move ends with Lloris nicking the ball off Crooks' toe as he slides in to score. Next, Howson blasts over from the edge of the area. Next up, Tavernier thrashes one on target only for Lloris to make a brilliant reflex save. It's relentless from the hosts, who have Spurs completely overrun.

Son scuffs a shot in an excellent position, before Boro counter and Balogun fluffs his lines. Both sides are looking a little ragged now.

Kane and Kulusevski combine nicely before the latter unleashes a shot from distance which brushes Lumley's fingertips. The officials miss it, however, and Boro are awarded a goal kick.

Despite a flurry of chances in the second half, neither side could find a breakthrough. Up next, extra time.

Kulusevski lofts a cross to Son at the back post, but his low header fails to get the better of Lumley. He lies flat on the turf, deflated.

Boro almost win it, Jones wiggling free in the box only for Lloris to get low and keep him out. Howson heads narrowly wide at the ensuing corner.

Bergwijn sends Kane through but Lumley charges out bravely to deny him. The offside flag had gone up but, still, good goalkeeping.

From the resulting corner, Son whips a delivery to the near post and Dier glances a header just over.
