It took some time and was threatening to be the transfer saga of the summer, but Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag got his man when Andre Onana signed a deal from Inter Milan. The Cameroon international is a modern goalkeeper as he is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet and will allow The Red Devils to play out from the back. He will replace David de Gea as the No. 1.

Manchester United have wrapped up a deal to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
United had set their sights on Onana some time ago, with the pursuit intensifying following the confirmation of David de Gea’s departure from the club.
Inter were reluctant to strike a deal, but the Premier League giants got the move over the line for a fee believed to be in the region of £50 million.
The stopper joins United on a fiver-year deal running until June 2028, with the option of a further year.
“To join Manchester United is an incredible honour," the player told the club's website. "And I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way.
"Walking out at Old Trafford to defend our goal and contribute to the team will be another amazing experience.
"This is the start of a new journey for me, with new team-mates, and new ambitions to fight for."
Ahead of the announcement, Onana penned an emotional farewell to the Serie A club, stating he was about to embark on a 'new journey' at Old Trafford.
“I fell in love with San Siro, la Curva and the city. Now the circumstances are right for me to start a new journey in Manchester.
"I do it with great enthusiasm, but knowing that I will miss you. Eternal gratitude to all the interisti. You make this club great."
The capture of Onana will be a major boost to manager Erik ten Hag, who wants his team to play out from the back and the Cameroon international is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet.
The bedding-in process at Old Trafford is likely to be a smooth one for Onana, as he worked under Ten Hag at Ajax.
Onana joined the Dutch side as an 18-year-old in 2015 and spent seven seasons in Amsterdam before joining Inter in 2022.
He initially struggled to secure a starting berth, with Samir Handanovic the man in possession of the jersey.
After making his Serie A debut in October of 2022, Onana made the goalkeeping position his own and helped the side reach the Champions League final.
His final game for the club was defeat to Manchester City in European club football’s showpiece event, with Guardiola’s side claiming a 1-0 victory.
Onana will now link up with Ten Hag’s United for pre-season, ahead of the opening game of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign at home to Wolves on August 14.
