Jordan Henderson confirms Liverpool exit as move to Al Ettifaq and reunion with Steven Gerrard draws nearer

Jordan Henderson has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool as a surprise move to Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq, who are managed by the midfielder's former team-mate Steven Gerrard, draws nearer. The pair played together 142 times in total for both Liverpool and England. Henderson played 43 times last season, but with competition in midfield intensifying, he has decided to move abroad.

Jordan Henderson has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool as a move to Al Ettifaq, which will see him reunite with Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia, draws closer.
It will mark the end of a 12-year career at Liverpool for Henderson who made a total of 492 appearances and scored 33 goals.
Henderson took to Instagram to confirm the news.
He posted: "It's hard to put these last 12 years into words and it's even harder to say goodbye. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you. You’ll never walk alone”.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have joined Liverpool for £35m and £60m respectively this transfer window, putting Henderson's starting spot at risk.
Henderson won all four domestic trophies with the Merseyside club as well as the Champions League in 2019.
He will join the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Kaita in a midfield exodus from the club this summer, with Fabinho also rumoured to be on his way out.
Henderson will also be the latest high-profile name from the Premier League to complete a move to Saudi Arabia.

His former Liverpool team-mate Roberto Firmino has joined Al Ahli, while Ruben Neves (Al Hilal), Kalidou Koulibaly (Al Hilal), N'Golo Kante (Al Ittihad) and Edouard Mendy (Al Ahli) have also made the move to Saudi Pro League clubs.
