Well, hello there. What a strange year. No football for months and then bang, non-stop action. It continues tonight in the shape of the UEFA Nations League and normally we might moan about international football, but not any more, we're just happy we have some entertainment. And Germany vs Spain is more than alright. They kick off Group A4 as the race for a place in next year's finals begin.

Chance! A free-kick straight off the training ground from Spain. Ruiz chips it to the back post, Pau Torres heads it back to Busquets but his shot is straight at Trapp.

Of course, Dean Henderson has recently signed a new contract at Manchester United and perhaps the challenge of holding on to the No 1 jersey at Old Trafford is playing on De Gea's mind tonight.

Vintage De Gea! He's at full stretch to make a strong one-handed save from Sane's curler!

Rodrigo was far from prolific for Valencia and he almost looked nervous when presented with a glorious opportunity just now.

Save! Germany immediately go up the other end and test De Gea once more, Sane playing in Draxler but he sees his shot saved by the feet of the Spain 'keeper.

Chance! Rodrigo fluffs his lines, you have to say. Confusion in the Germany defence as the Leeds forward races past Trapp but he takes too long to take the shot and the goalkeeper makes a brilliant recovery.

Save! De Gea is called into action for the first time this evening. Kroos chips the ball for Kehrer at the back post and he tries to catch the Man United goalkeeper out at his near post. De Gea is alert to the danger, pushing it wide for a Germany corner.

Gundogan draws the foul from Thiago, and Kroos takes the free-kick quickly, playing it to Gosens, but his cross is straight into the arms of De Gea.

Low hasn't played with a back-three since the 4-2 defeat from the Netherlands. It will be intriguing to see how this plays out.

Can clearly wins the ball with a robust challenge but the referee blows for a foul. Modern football, eh?

Spain go direct. Trapp is quickly off his line, beating Torres to the chase and clearing his lines.

Rudiger plays a lovely ball over the top out of defence, but Spain hold a solid line to catch Draxler offside.

Germany appear to be playing with a back three, with Sule in the centre, Rudiger on the left and Can on the right.

KICK-OFF! Spain get us underway in Stuttgart.
19:40
It's time for the national anthems. Five minutes until kick-off now. It's Germany versus Spain at the Mercedes-Benz Arena and it's LIVE, NEXT!

Thiago starts for Spain, obviously, but speculation about his next club move continues...

Luis Enrique is back in Spain's dugout for the first time in 17 months and he, too, is concerned with the fitness of his players. "The added difficulty has been the calendar, but it is the same for everyone, also for Low," he said. "You have to see each player in particular, and even so the pace of training has been very high. But I'm not complaining, I love playing the Nations League and I love playing with the national team. These are the official dates and you have to accept it."

Germany finished bottom of Group 1A in the inaugural Nations League, earning just two points from their games against Netherlands and France. That was a wake-up call. Since a 4-2 defeat to the Netherlands in September last year, Low's men have won four on the bounce, chalking up 15 goals in the process.
19:20
It has been quite a while since Germany or Spain have played - 10 months in ago, in fact. Low's side thrashed Northern Ireland 6-1, Serge Gnabry scoring a hat-trick, in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, while Spain enjoyed a 5-0 thumping of Romania.
19:15
Joachim Low admits it's going to be a struggle for his players to complete 90 minutes tonight. "The situation we have is that there are a lot of differences between players," Low said. "Some have been training for weeks but have no match practice, others have just finished playing. Others are just back from holidays that were short. I don't think players will last over 90 minutes at a high pace,"
19:10
He doesn't start tonight for Spain, but what does the future hold for the highly-rated Sergio Reguilon?
