Good evening and welcome to live coverage of Spain versus Germany in UEFA Nations League group A4. It’s a simple equation for the hosts tonight; if they win, they’ll qualify for the Nations League Finals in October next year. For Germany, if they avoid defeat, they’ll be the ones going instead. Got that? Good, let’s get into it then. Team news from Seville will be with you shortly.

    10'
Another match, another muscle injury; Canales' hamstring has gone when he stretches for a dropping high ball here, and he immediately leaves the pitch wincing.
    9'
A long ball over the top finds Werner, who looks like he's got a run through on goal but tries to square it first time to Sane instead, and Spain clear behind for a corner. An odd choice.
    7'
GOOD SAVE! Ramos takes it, whipping a low shot to the right hand post, but Neuer gets across to parry the ball away.
    5'
Now then, Gundogan brings down Olmo right on the edge of the German area. The Spanish players are incensed and want a penalty, but it looks like the referee is right and it was just outside the box. Spain have a great chance here though, because the free kick is central.
    4'
Werner tries to slip a pass through the Spanish defence to Gnabry, but Pau Torres reads it well and feeds the ball back to Simon.
    2'
Morata has the first shot of the game, with his left foot from the right corner of the area, but it only trickles through to Neuer.

The teams are out, and waiting for the anthems. Your referee tonight is Andreas Ekberg.

Back in September these two faced off in Stuttgart in the first game in this group. Timo Werner's early second half goal was cancelled out by a last-gasp strike from Jose Gaya. Given how the group has panned out, what a huge goal that proved to be.
    19:32
A quick note on two outstanding players tonight. He may have missed that brace of penalties three days ago, but Sergio Ramos tonight earns his 178th (O-N-E H-U-N-D-R-E-D A-N-D S-E-V-E-N-T-Y-E-I-G-H-T-H) cap, moving him into joint third on the all-time list. In Germany's nets, Manuel Neuer wins his 96th cap to become outright the most capped German goalkeeper of all time ahead of the great Sepp Maier.

A quick word on what was due to be the concurrent fixture to close out group A4 tonight - the Switzerland versus Ukraine match in Lucerne has been cancelled due to the entire Ukrainian delegation having to quarantine due to the coronavirus.

Germany often make light work of qualifying for international tournaments but have struggled with the UEFA Nations League since it’s inception. They finished bottom of their group in 2018-19 and were only saved from relegation when UEFA decided to revamp the format for this current edition. They’re unbeaten in this campaign, with two wins and three draws, but have a tough final hurdle to negotiate if they’re to make the finals next year.

Spain’s last two results have left them in a must-win position tonight. They lost 1-0 to the Ukraine in Kiev last month, while just three days ago Sergio Ramos missed two penalties and Gerard scrambled in a late equaliser in a 1-1 with Switzerland in Basel.
