Spain won the inaugural UEFA Women's Nations League title with a dominant victory against France. The world champions triumphed 2-0 at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, with goals from Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey. Elsewhere, Germany beat the Netherlands in the third-place play-off to book a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Spain added a UEFA Women’s Nations League title to the Women’s World Cup trophy they won last year, consolidating their status as the team to beat in international women’s football.
Montse Tome’s side defeated France 2-0 to win the inaugural edition of the Women’s Nations League.
Aitana Bonmati, winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or Feminin, opened the scoring at Seville’s Estadio de La Cartuja in the 33rd minute.
After a smart one-two with Jenni Hermoso on the edge of the penalty box, Olga Carmona whipped a dangerous cross into the path of an unmarked Bonmati.
The Barcelona midfielder did not hesitate as she volleyed the ball into the back of the net.
Spain dominated possession during the first half of the match, and despite a promising spell for France at the start of the second half, the hosts were soon back in control as Mariona Caldentey doubled the lead in the 53rd minute.
Bonmati was again involved, sliding the ball out to Athenea del Castillo on the edge of France’s penalty box.
Del Castillo cut the ball back to Caldentey, who struck it first time past the outstretched hands of French goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
Spain then showed excellent game management to limit France’s chances to get back into the encounter, ending the match with 60% possession.
The reigning world champions had finished ahead of Italy, Sweden and Switzerland, before beating the Netherlands 3-0 in last week’s semi-final.
Spain’s place in the final also earned the team a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic women’s football tournament, with France automatically qualifying as hosts.
The final Olympic place available from the Women’s Nations League went to Germany, who defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the third-place play-off.
After a goalless first half at the Abe Lenstra Stadion in Heerenveen, Klara Buhl and Lea Schuller were on the scoresheet for Germany in the second half.
The victory meant Germany qualified for the Olympic women's football tournament for the fifth time in their history, having earned a gold medal at Rio 2016.
