It's a 1-0 win for Denmark in their first World Cup game in 16 years as PSG's Vangsgaard provides a decisive winning header.

Heroics from Denmark's defence deny China an equalising goal.

A header from Amalie Vangsgaard loops over and down into the corner of the goal past Xu from outside the box! Their first shot on target in this match has resulted in a goal. Harder with the assist from a corner, and it's the first goal from a header this World Cup.

She gets the ball under control with her chest and takes a shot, but China are there to defend swiftly.

There's a collision between Rikke Madsen and goalkeeper Xu as they both jump towards the back post for the ball. Jiahui Lou makes way for Celtic's Mengyu Shen.

It was almost an own goal for China's captain, or an assist for Simone Boye Sørensen as both leap towards the ball! The ball goes centimetres wide of the left post.

Sørensen is replaced by Rikke Madsen, who makes her World Cup debut.

A great ball in but it's diffused by a Stine Ballisager Pedersen header over the bar. She did the same from the corner that followed.

Replacement Shuang Wang has been a key part of the second half for China, she had an opportunity largely unmarked by Denmark but the ball was sent wide.

China go on the attack but Denmark remain strong in defence and China are punished for a foul from Linyan Zhang, who isn't impressed with the decision. Denmark's Kathrine Kühl has been replaced by Signe Bruun.

Sørensen with another ball in but Qiaozhu Chen provides a vital defensive header to deny Denmark another opportunity. Denmark are starting to look brighter but China still strong in defence.

An open goal missed by Josefine Hasbo after a ball in from Sørensen. Denmark's best opportunity so far goes over the bar from a header.

Taken by Veje but it goes over the other side of the box, missing all of her teammates.

Wang with a shot but it's comfortably saved by Christensen just off centre.

The ball in from Shuang Wang is sent over the bar by Mengwen Li.

And we're back underway! China's Xin Zhang replaced by Shuang Wang in the midfield.

After two minutes of added time the score remains 0-0 as neither side have been able to secure sustained periods of possession and covert limited goal scoring opportunities. China have looked the stronger side, however Denmark have shown flashes of promise. It's all to play for in the second half!
