A fine start to the match, both sides with their opportunities. Sweden now win a corner.

What a Chance for Sweden! Straight down the other end, Lustig crosses and Elmander can only poke wide. Should score.

First big chance!! Meireles finds Moutinho, who rounds Isaksson. The midfielder is taken wide however, and can only hit the side netting.

Fair to say that the home side have started quickly and with a high intensity.

A cross from the right loops off a defender, and Sweden scramble clear with Ronaldo interested.

Seb Larsson penalised after robbing Fabio Coentrao. Portugal relieved to see the award given.

Andreas Isaksson already taking an age over his first goal kick. Could be a pattern to watch for.

Portugal start brightly, a Joao Moutinho cross flashing across the face before drifting behind

And we are underway...

Before kick-off, a plea - first legs can be tight, with both sides often settling for a low scoring draw. Surely we can't have that again, not with the attacking talent on show? Please? Now, after that negativity, just sit back and enjoy the show. The Estadio Da Luz looks resplendent, and there are just five minutes until kick off...

Final statistical preview regards the countries respective FIFA world ranking. Portugal are ranked 14th, directly behind USA and Chile. Sweden are ranked 25th, behind Ecuador, Bosnia and Ukraine. So, Portugal your favourites?
19:30
Portugal have lost just 1 of their last 8 international fixtures and head into the encounter on the back of a 3-0 win over Luxembourg. Meanwhile, Sweden arrive on the back of the 5-3 defeat to the hands of Germany, but have won 6 of their last 8 international fixtures. Sweden have also not lost in Portugal on their seven previous trips there.

And now Sweden coach Erik Hamsen: “Portugal are big favourites, for three reasons. Firstly, they have a better ranking than Sweden and secondly, they reached the semi-finals at Euro 2012 and came very close to reaching the final. They are also playing the first leg at home, so it is a big challenge for us, but even though Portugal are a world-class team, we went to Germany and came away with a draw, so I believe in my team.”

Time for some quotes from the managers. First up is Portugal boss Paulo Bento: "Sweden is a team that never gives up. We'll have to be totally focused because any mistake could cost us. Against Sweden we'll be tackling the game in a way that befits the situation: with belief, respect for our opponents and, more than anything, tremendous conviction that we can make it to Brazil 2014."
19:15
The stats on the game's obvious head-to-head: Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic have scored 39 club goals between then this season, already registering seven hat-tricks. Ibra scored or assisted 63% of Sweden's goals in their qualifying group. That's just silly, really.
19:10
So, very few changes with the selection of the sides, and two names really do stick out. Are Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic two of the top five players in the world? Or even top three? One thing is a certainty, one of football's biggest headline generators will probably be choosing to holiday away as far as possible away from Brazil next summer. I'm already worryingly excited.
